I often get asked what exactly I did after I quit teaching. In this video, I will share with you the exact path I took after I left the teaching profession and explain how I ended up earning more money working from home doing my dream job.
If you are wondering what to do after you quit teaching, I will share exactly how I transitioned away teaching, the jobs that I did next, and how I found an incredible sense of work/life balance that I never thought was possible. I will also share the challenges I faced and the rewarding experiences that followed after I stopped teaching.
If you are considering a career change, or feeling unsure of what you would do after quitting teaching, I am hoping this video inspires you!

I lived in Asia and taught 6 of my 7 years there. I was paid anywhere between 20$ to 100$ per hour. After just 1 year of experience my pay was 33-100$ per hour. Respect there is similar to a Doctor. White American and British Teachers make more than 80-90% more than the average citizen. Taxes were anywhere between 0% to 2.5 in one country and the other it wax 19% for first 180 days in the country then down to 8%. My single household income is similar to someone making 120-200k per year in America depending on your State. NYC,SF, Miami, LA would need more than that... In America we're destroyed on healthcare vs 0-20% citizens/resident card holders as government would usually pay 80% or more... Now these countries are saturated with teachers. One country isn't and i may return because of the respect and ability to pay my HOA fees and 275$ per month housing in that country which is half or 1/3 less than the other 2 countries. A big difference may be due to people paying for additional education. However, i also taught at a public school and kids behaved appropriately. No phones in the classroom and excellent pay. Who do you think Doctors are trained by??? Oh yeah.. professors and people with years of experience. 60k salary in my State for single person income is ridiculously low and hard as heck to pay average 2300$ rent for 600sqft. When I can get half the amenities but a cost of $250 to $800 in the posh highrises with a viw. Americans have dishwashers and fancy kitchens. I don't care if i can eat out 20-31 days per month on this income. If I'm making 2500$ with my 6+ years experience or $1900 with no experience. In cities that have huge metro 🚇 and cars aren't needed duevto a 1.25 to 7$ taxi or in Guatemala 30$ to go 80 miles away. 250-290$ average rent with 2,000 in the wallet. About 100-250$ on food depending on if you're eating local food vs expat restaurants. Not all countries are created equally for monthly income but other countries are catching up to America or surpassed American healthcare. Americans would prefer low cost healthcare for 0-20$ per visit compared to higher pay. As most people visit a doctor or dentist at least once per year. On average it goes up the older you become. I thought i would not go back but with the job economy crap for new unemployed people and younger graduates due to many factors. Mostly due to young millennials and new alphad quitting their first jobs due to having a higher expectation for work pay. I plan tetire overseas but i didn't expect that i would consider a job offer to go back to a different Asian Country despite now being in my 40's vs most of my 30's overseas. I researched teaching in America in 2017-2018 and got a lot of negative feedback from some teachers. Now, 6/2024 it seems like it has gotten so bad that kids are spitting, biting and unwilling to put phones away in class. That reminds me of working in male group homes aged 12-17. I suppose the only way for things to improve is the parents listen to teachers more, more staff, rules regarding electronics in the classroom and detention or making someone go to the counselor or Principal's office like the 1990's or pre cell phones with screens. Also the ability to fail a student. No teacher wants to fail a student, but it's necessary. It also helps create responsibility on the parent to be active in their children's homework. School is not babysitting. My Mom and grandma both taught for 27+ years. I only returned to America to start a 401k, but now i see that isn't growing as fast as I like even with 10-12% of every paycheck going to it. 33% of my check going to the government seems like a lot for making 50-75k per year and $2300 per month going to rent before utilities and internet. Not to mention you need a car in most American cities. Now, it's time to watch your video. I'm glad I'll get to hear a man's perspective.

Wow, you’ve got some serious experience under your belt! It’s crazy how different teaching abroad is compared to the U.S. Getting paid well and being respected must have been a nice change of pace. It sounds like the cost of living and perks made things a lot easier. The struggles with teaching in the U.S. are a bummer, especially with student behavior and the high cost of living. Thanks for sharing your story-it gives a lot to think about for anyone considering teaching overseas or dealing with the current state of education here.
