My 95 year old uncle just bought a Tesla Model 3, his first electric car. The first thing he did as he pulled out of the Loveland Tesla store was to floor it! And darn it, after a week he still hasn’t allowed me to drive the car! He says the car has been the biggest thrill in his life!

Tesla = easy target for ‘comment haters’ but we should remember this is a US/American car. Conceived here. Designed here. Engineered here. Manufactured here. Luv it or hate it, have to admit, it’s purdy darn sweet that we’re kickin’ world’s arse right now in ev tech. Tesla, Rivian, Lucid all exceed the performance/metrics of foreign ev’s atm. Thanks 4 sharing the car Chris & TFL, enjoy.

@@mt2nv1 - thanks for the additional information. I can’t keep up with the EV world. I’m too busy living in the 60s - 90s with my garage. Everything from my 67 C10 2wd Short box to my 1990 Chevy 454 SS. 67 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed, 67 Mustang 2+2 (may have a deal to swap for a 65 Mustang 2+2 in the works, neither are #d matching cars, the Chevelle is! I’m the 2nd owner), Datsun 240Z, 260Z and 280Z, all very original, 1981 Corvette (fabric interior upgraded to leather, all new carpet, plastics (where needed), door panels, paint redone (same colour), 350 crate motor, (I’m definitely upside down $$$ on this one!!) 1971 GMC Sprint (like El Camino) just put a 383 Stroker and 700r4 in it to replace the overdone 502 and 5 speed manual it had retrofitted to it (was originally an automatic, put a set of 72 Chevelle buckets and modified the matching console so the car has the D handled shifter), all the restomods are running fuel injection and 4 wheel disc brakes. C10, Mustang, Sprint. Just finished up a 1979 short box GMC High Sierra K10 with the 502 and 5 speed manual I pulled out of the Sprint. It’s a beast with 4” lift and 35s, lockers front and rear. Will make it a 6 speed automatic instead of manual. 2012 Raptor is disassembled enough to add the Roush Supercharger I ordered. It should get here and be a quick install (so they say). I have a 2019 Raptor as well, both are SuperCabs. Running out of room though! Next project is my wife’s 2021 Wrangler Sahara 4xe!! She don’t know that yet!! Haha. Sold a 49 Ford F1 Flathead Supercharged running through a A4OD and 3:55 limited slip. It’s not a fast truck, but is definitely an attention getter! I did very well on that deal. @@mt2nv1 - I was fortunate with land purchases in the 8ps and early 90s and sold out when I was 56. A little over 8800 acres. Sometimes ya get lucky. My buddies (some with much nicer collections) all swap work and we used to always get together on weekends and whoever was hosting would offer any of their vehicles up for a country drive! It was a great way to make sure the vehicles were driven. We did have Jaguar I-Pace and my wife loved it, but we moved to a more remote location and range anxiety became a real issue, especially for my wife. That’s why she now drives a 4xe. Just over 70% of her driving in it is full EV, to the small town nearby, friends places and back. We have 2 x level 2 (?? 240 volts each in the garage) chargers in our garage attached to the house. She religiously plugs the vehicle in at the end of each day, so we are getting the most out of the Electric aspect of the Jeep. She prefers the Grand Cherokee 4xe over the Wrangler so she may sell the Wrangler, or if she keeps it,I will drive it most of the time as my daily driver. Currently driving a new Maverick 2.0 AWD as my daily driver.

Observations from my ownership: 1. New track mode fixes handling and brakes 2. Yoke is fine and helps steady the car especially on the road with acceleration. It also has cool functionality and offers and unobstructed view of the dash. On a road track it’s not as good but overall I like it . 3. The car was governed at 163mph but will now do ~172mpg gps verified since track update . The car can easily do 200mph in terms of power.

I am all for autonomous driving, but I have to say it is really scary when the car does something it ought not to be doing. My grandparents have a 2021 Buick Enclave Avenir. It has lane keep assistance. First, I understand that the lane assistance is just an assistance program, I don't rely on it. But, frequently, when you pop over a hill, the car will all of a sudden jerk to one side really hard. That type of autonomous mistake really bothers me. That is scary when the car does something out of the blue when you think you are in total control.

Funny how Ferrari owners don’t complain about the controls on the steering wheel, but people who drive fords and Toyotas do. The yoke is a great change of pace. Serious question. What are the benefits of full self drive? It seems to be a case of tech trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist. I look at the Tesla product and do not see value in it, build quality after all these years is still terrible, in this video you can see panel lines not aligning and overall fit and finish is where the Korean brands were 15 years ago. Would I buy a Tesla, nope. Long term I don't think electric is the answer, Hydrogen is the way forward. All personal opinion of course.

You should ask Will Prowse about the week he owned his car, but only had for just over 1 day. He started with a broken door handle that happened when he got home from the dealership. Then, on the way to the service centre, one motor failed and he drove the plaid into the centre in limp mode. He left it there and Tesla agreed to take it back. He never even got to try the 0-60,,,,,,. I think Tesla really is a USA success story. They have created an innovative company around solely EV!s of course! They have definitely reached a potential capability to produce vehicles that are near perfect with their Giga-Factories. I hope it works. I will still buy a truck from the company. I have my money in for a 2wd and the dual motor 4wd. Doubt I will get both,,,, hopefully a few are delivered and tested prior to me getting a chance at one. I can then decide if I will take delivery of one or both,,,, .

@@yingnyang2889 - nothing wrong with a Prius!! We all have different needs at different times. I believe you. It’s frustrating when they make you feel like you did something wrong for their product to fail. Annoying as h*ll to me!! Even worse on the online Toyota zealots that don’t want to accept the product isn’t perfect. It is, on average, a notably more reliable product, but there are exceptions. I hope the vehicle was otherwise a great vehicle for you. I actually became friends with the Toyota Tech who did a lot of the work on my truck when I had it. The truck was never a great truck as long as he owned it and he sold it last summer. He replaced a few electrical parts before he found a pinch point on one of the main wiring harnesses. He felt that may have been the reason I had solenoid failures stranding me. He was stranded a few times himself until the harness was replaced. He did it himself, but the harness itself was well over $1,000 cad!!! Ouch!! He did note that they often had a spare transmission available in the shop’s inventory for quick R&Rs. It’s ranch/farming country and a lot of guys used the Tundra like a 3/4 ton even though they were not rated as such. Most did very well too!! Please stay safe in these times, Eh!

I work 10-12 hours a day having to stop even once in a wile for a hour to fully charge it would kinda suck. Anyway, that Plaid Model S is sexy and has blistering performance. It’s just too expensive.
