00:25 pro Tipp: when you have to take measurements for round things or curves, allways flip your measureband to the side (dont hold it flat) thatway your measurement gets more precise and its far easier to work your way around the curves 😘 p.s. i love your projects 👍🏼

A heavy duty upholstery thread seems like it would be the way to go. And maybe an over cast stitch. I'm thinking of the abuse my 4 year old would give to an item like this, while also considering making one.

Making a heavier quilt is such a great idea! I've tried making a quilt once and it didn't have the "heft" of the quilts I used in childhood... I wonder if the batting of those hefty quilts was actually fabric, instead of the lofty batting I used.
@hiddenkitty675

@@seraph511 I think back then they use natural materials which were heavier compared to the synthetic batting we have now?

That's great, I'd love to see how they turn out! 😃 My daughter is 6 ft tall and has the opposite problem. Tall lengths for women are hard to find and then sometimes are ridiculously long (like for 6'4" women or something, very few of whom exist) maybe you can send your trimmed hems her ways so that her pants will actually be long enough!😂👖

I am from India , in particularly our region, What we do is collects all scraps...old clothes work too...remove seams if any to avoid bumps... Make a blanket case (similar to pillow case) , Lay all the scrap clothes in even layers, turn the blanketcase inside out in a way that layers are not disturbed....and then without moving it too much...and handstitch all around the blanket.... I absolutely love the heavy and warm feel of this blanket. I guess quilt is the same? Not sure about it though...

If it sags you fluff it by rolling it around to redistribute the insides, it's gonna last way longer than poly fill, and it's probably very heavy and dense, unlike poly fill which is mostly air which compacts easily and doesn't really ever fluff up entirely it's all fabric, so its much sturdier too

They used to do this years ago, every old lady I knew as a kid had a patchwork pouffe made out of pretty scraps and all the worn out, stained good for nothing clothes, bed sheets and towels were the stuffing. It is a good idea. I am not a sewer so would never get enough scraps, I sometimes make plaited cat toy, octopus things with old clothing no one else could wear and beyond my capability of repairing.

I do the same thing with m scraps. I have a big box that I dump my scarp fabric & thread into, then use it for pillows, pincushions, padding, and so on. The first pillow I made actually wound up being the perfect thickness and density to either put under my head on nights that I sleep on my back, or prop up my hand on side-sleeping nights. (Yes, I need a hand-pillow, because all my joints are hypermobile, and my wrists and knees in particular will get overstretched and out-of-whack if not given proper support/kept at the correct angles.)
