We had a 77 or 78 Granada when I was young I can distinctly remember being on our way to hunting camp and losing the drivers side Ball joint my dad was ingenious tho he jacked up the car and couldn't find anything else so he ripped the elastic band from his tighty whities and tied that Ball and socket together and we limped it the last 3 miles to camp we got a ride The next day for parts but it's a memory that will always be there

Fuel fill at the rear made so much more sense… you could pull up to any pump left or right. Miss that feature, that was still present on Monte Carlo’s in early 80’s which I had 2 different ones, and even on the 93 Jeep YJ I still have😎

You forgot the worst thing- smog choked low compression engines with carburetors that generally belched raw fuel in the winter and vapor locked in the heat. But the door carpet? As you get older, you end up kicking the bottom of the door about every other time you get out of the car. Carpet hid the marks and was easy to vacuum "clean enough."

I'd like to have a Lincoln Mark V Bill Blas edition with a 460... My mom had a brand new one when I was a kid, and I loved that car. It would really get up and go, too, for a big hunk of Detroit rolling iron! You didn't park that car, you docked it! Speaking of docking, the 70's El Dorado Convertibles were pretty sweet too.

Allow me to refine that: 70-76. When Carter hit the fan in '77, he just took the fun out of road trips. Drive across Texas at 55? That's enough to make anyone pull their hair out. So I'm going to go out on a limb here and raise a glass to the Pinto: a car so fugly, it could only be hot rodded to save it from the crusher - there was nothing to ruin, only make better..

Smoother ride, roomier & more comfortable than modern cars. Late '50s, 1960s, and early '70s cars the best, though. In the mid to late '70s the car makers were under too much pressure by the events of the time and had to resort to marketing everything as "luxurious" to sell the crap they were forced to build. As bad as they are I still enjoy driving a Malaise Era car as compared to a modern one. I get to drive a lot of old cars because I have always worked on them. Last year I drove a 1978 Cordoba for a few months while I worked on it. Nice ride, nice drive. Even got a lot of compliments and thumbs up for a... a CORDOBA😮😊

70's cars are the best and the Smog/Malaise Era cars are the HOT build out out in the West/Southwest becaus ethey are cheap to get and the parts are still available, plus most of them have aged out the Smog Regulations also so they are an open book to what you can do with them. Your Granada would be right at home out here. You guys need to talk Carcass into doing one on a budget.

Get rid of the cassette player and put in a modern Bluetooth. Radio is what I would do drop in a different motor that don’t get 4 miles a gallon LS swap it or something like that and tune it so I can get some decent fuel mileage I’m not expecting 30 miles of the gallon but you know something closer to 20 would be nice.

They're definitely 2nd kind of cool, but the grim reaper is always riding shotgun when you're cruising. Those sleds will slaughter you in even a fairly mild crash. Modern cars are designed to be 1 time use and crumple up to reduce the impulse of a crash, plus airbags and all that. My friend was just in a SERIOUS not-at-faulr highspeed offset frontal crash that would've killed her if she had been in an older vehicle. The people are such horrifically dangerous drivers here in my area that I have given up my love of motorcycles and classic cars in lieu of my life and limb.
