I’ve had an Apple Watch since the original, and I’ve always held that I’m only upgrading to the newest model if either the battery degrades to the point that it can no longer get through a whole day, or the model I’m on stops getting software updates. I upgraded to a Series 4 since that was when they stopped supporting the Series 0, and I’ve been using it ever since. I’m assuming it’ll stay supported until at least the next major hardware revision and my battery still has >40% at bedtime so I guess I’m sticking with it for at least a few more years.

I'm still wearing my S0 today. I didn't bother upgrading even after it stopped getting software updates. The battery still lasts all day in most cases. It is agonizingly slow if you want to do anything more with it like start a workout. But I decided that this year was the time to upgrade anyways. I have an S7 sitting at home that was just delivered, so today is the last day for the S0 to be a daily! Despite it's slowness now, it's been a great watch. Here's hoping I can get similar life out of the S7.

@@Nazenko I am now wearing the S7 today, You are right, it’s such a huge upgrade in performance. Everything just..happens instantly instead of having to wait for ages for something to load. I’m not sure my usage of the watch will change in the end, but it will definitely be a marked improvement in experience. I like the always on display quite a bit. It’s nice being able to see the time without raising my wrist if it happens to be within my sight line. That’s probably my favorite new feature so far.

@@bluezklewz8351 perhaps "fine" should be "well enough for now."I have had some issues with getting updates. There was an update (can't remember which one) that for the longest time just wouldn't install because it said there wasn't enough storage despite even resetting and only having the bare minimum installed to it. It also has moments every once in awhile where it is unresponsive (thankfully, that is not a common occurrence, yet). I suspect within the next year or two I will probably see myself upgrading or working on convincing myself it is time.

Absolutely the best channel in LMG. Also, this new Apple gen (iPhone 13 and Watch 7), seems extremely lackluster in tangible, actual upgrades! My first Apple Watch was the Series 6 and I upgraded my 1st gen SE to a 12mini almost solely for the cameras, hopefully it'll at least be the same amount of years before I feel the need for another step-up.

Jumped from a series 3 to 7 this year and honestly it’s an ok update even after 4 years. Bigger screen, sleep tracking, AOD, noise monitoring, ECG, all pretty solid features. But at some point one wonders whether the watch gets to a stagnant stage where all new features seem like gimmicks.

Series 7 is my first smartwatch. I have been using only traditional watches before this. Maybe because I got the aluminum one, it sometimes felt like a toy instead of a watch. But I don't really regret in getting one, even though having to charge from time to time is annoying for me who was used to watches that ran on solar energy or energy consumption was so low that small battery can last for years.

I'm still happily using a Series 2 as my daily driver. I'm not even sure I'm really missing out on any significant functionality that would warrant an upgrade other than the fact that my watch crystal itself is badly scratched and chipped after years of abuse. I am actually considering just "repairing" this existing Series 2 to replace it prior to the series reaching EOL sometime next year.

0:32 Dang, I expected to hear "Hello and welcome to Tuesdaaaay Newsday!" Lol. I had a Series 3 but decided to finally upgrade and pass on the 3 to someone who didn't use the watch as much as myself. It was really frustrating not being able to update it or install a single app without the storage being full, on top of the battery not lasting as long and the slow response within the built in apps. Starting a workout was soo frustrating. I'm really glad I upgraded and I doubt I'll upgrade again for a very long time. I can't see a benefit to upgrading to a 7 if you have a 6, and honestly even if you don't mind the drawbacks of the 3. Enjoy the content as always, thanks for staying informative and honest.

They need to improve the durability of the glass on the backside of the Watch covering the sensor. The solo loop I was using with my series 6 randomly split open, and the sensor on my watch cracked after taking a 2 foot drop. IMO, there’s just as much of a need to innovate on the backside of the Watch as there is on the front.

I only upgraded to Series 4 when my Series 0 battery life couldn’t get me through a day. I’ve been planning on upgrading to Series 8, but honestly so far my Series 4 is holding up really well, much better than the Series 0. But I’d be willing to upgrade if they offer some serious new health sensors. Both diabetes and high blood pressure run in my family, so sensors for either of those would benefit me greatly. The other factor that tempts me is the always on display, which I think the lack thereof is the biggest downside of my Series 4.

Unfortunately I was somewhat forced to upgrade my Series 3 watch. It became slow and would take up 30 seconds to respond to inputs. I had reset it more than a few times to see if that would fix the issues. It did not fix any thing. I upgraded to the Series 7 about a week ago and my experience has been great. Hopefully this will last another 4 or more years before I have any issues. Also I would like to state on my Series 3 I was only able to get the screen to scratch within the last year. It took a galvanized nail to put the scratch on when I was tearing apart some old decking. Fingers crossed this new one will be just as worthy.

Can you not just go in to your notifications settings on the app and disable them for all but the very most important? (Spoiler you can) - that might solve your problem

I still use the first one, when I go to bed its still at 30-50% depends how much i've used it and my bedtime. I still love it and don't think I'm going to upgrade soon already.

I got a series 3 back in Christmas 2017 and then upgraded to the series 5 in early 2020 for the new design and bigger screen. I probably won’t upgrade until the series 8 or 9 (if it gets a redesign)

I am a proud owner of a 42mm Series 0 Apple Watch. It works just fine as a watch. I replaced it with a 44mm Series 4 just couple of months ago, and it doesn’t change the way I use it. (Except for the iPhone unlocking feature)

@@macaddress I saved as much music as I could to it and some podcasts and pair it with my AirPods to help me get through work since we can’t bring our phones in. Although, it dies fairly quickly with music playback so I might upgrade soon

Oddly this answered my question. I don't like any of the aluminum colors...and using my series 3's tiny screen is a bit old now, so the fact that they seem to last so long....and I think I can pull the trigger on a stainless steel one, either this year or next

I wonder if it’d be easier to have some kind of tilt function for typing where it displays a keyboard land has a tiny dot on the screen that moves as you tilt your wrist.

Series 3 in the Netherlands is 250 bucks. That's a LOT of Casios. Also I don't have an iPhone. But it's good to be up to date, well done video!

still got the series 2 and since I originally got it to motivate me to exercise and for notifications I don‘t really see the point in upgrading. oh and it also still tells the time, crazy right?

You can get a really good vintage well working American watch from the first half of the 20th century for around $400. Stuff from Elgin, Hamilton, Illinois! Highly recommend going vintage American for a nice non smart watch.
