I've been saying for years Kia Hyundai use poor cheap wire harnesses which turn into electrical problems on the vehicles & now fires, I had a 16 Sorento what a nightmare almost everything broke electrical issues up the a** battery continually dying, moon roof wouldn't close just a disaster, they entice with the designs of the car but reliability eventually catches up to you... I remember Hyundai back in the 80s Pony Stellar were also disasters.

I just bought a 2023 Kia Soul, and the dealer assured me I wouldn't need a down payment, but now I'm terrified after learning about the recall for the 2023 Kia Soul. Having dealt with a problematic Chevy Trax 2016, I'm really scared of facing issues with this new car. I have a backup 2013 Tundra, and I might go to Toyota to see if I can trade in the Kia Soul for a Corolla Cross. While I do admire the Kia Soul's shape and style, I'm just not ready for the stress of another potentially problematic car.

Thanks Scotty! My spousal unit ‘22 Sorento just had this “transmission reprogramming” done, so hopefully it won’t take a crap. I told her I didn’t trust Kia and they still have a long way to go, but that’s what she wanted. My ‘13 Lexus GX 460 is still going strong at 100K and almost paid off. Sucks on gas though.

I have 3 Kias. 83k, 62k and new one W/3k. Zero problems. Left the big 3 because older two would already be out of warranty on Ford, Chevy or Dodge but have free 100k from Kia on power train and had constant electrical issues with Chevys, constant Transmission issues with Ford and Dodge is not for for Human beings. The thought that went into the interior quality, ergonomics and driver friendliness on Kias are so much better.

Since 2003, my wife and I have owned either a Kia or Hyundai, and with the exception of the 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, we have had no significant issues with any of them. They have been dependable and inexpensive to operate, but we have not put more than 97K miles on any of them and have taken very good care of them from a maintenance standpoint. The vehicles we have owned are: (2) Hyundai Santa Fe's; 2007 Sonata; 2011 Sonata; 2012 Sonata Hybrid; 2016 Sonata (leased); 2018 Sonata; 2016 Kia Sorento SX; 2023 Sportage SX (purchased in February, 2023 and a 2023 Sorento SX (purchased last week and immediately took it on a 2000 mile vacation trip). The problem with most foreign manufacturers (and American) is that their reputations are established early on, and if the ownership experience is bad in the beginning, it takes a while to repair the damage done. I'm 74 and I remember the introduction of the Toyotas and Hondas to the US. They were absolute pieces of junk and stayed junky for a few years, but then the Japanese got serious about building a quality and reliable vehicle. It took them a few years, but the image of Toyota and Honda changed, and most people recognized that both manufacturers built a darn good product. Kia and Hyundai are on the same trajectory, and it began way back in 2004 (Hyundai) and 2008 (Kia) when the 100,000 mile/10 year power train warranty came into existence. Automobiles, regardless of the manufacturer, are mechanical with lots of moving parts, and I am a firm believer in the idea that if you take good care of them, they will, by and large, take care of you. If you change the oil and oil filter and service the transmission by manufacturer recommendations, there is a high likelihood, your car will easily get 100,000 miles or better, but the key for longevity is maintenance, pure and simple.

I had the worst experience having a Kia car. This was my first time I chose Kia because I liked the car that I was going to lease. The previous two cars that I drove were Toyota and they never ever gave me problems that usually an older car gives (one Problem on top of another). Imagine you trust the company, you get a brand new car thinking that “hey it’s a new car. I’m not going to have all the problems that old cars give" and then one day you wake up, your car is not starting, the next day brake lights don’t work, the following week another problem comes up.

I spent €520 on electricity last year over 19,500 km (I live in France)....to put petrol in the hybrid version @50 mpg would have cost around €1,850 for the same distance. Nissan Micra 1994, which still runs after clutch repair and Honda Civic 2006 are excellent cars with much less problems, compared to the cars from the Italian market, that is the market dynamic in Bulgaria. On the other issue about the Oil. If you mix non-synthetic oil with fully synthetic it might create an oil inside the engine like foam, with no lubricating values at all.

We were lucky as our engine did not have the issue were the engine stopped on the highway or the car just went up in flames on the driveway. We did get a notice that we should never park our car on the garage after that letter received. We then purchased a 2019 Hyundai Tucson 1.6L Limited and have had nothing but problems with this the engine. Firstly there is a Class Action Suit because the engine is known to eat oil. This is the same issue we are having but since out car is located in Canada, Hyundai will not replace the engine even though the had to in the USA. We will never purchase a Hyundai or Kia again and will never tell a friend to do the same.

I bought a used Kia Soul in 2019. It needed almost 5,000 dollars in repairs, including new spark plugs and a catalytic converter. It recently started burning oil, such that the dipstick didn't show any oil in the pan at 4,000 miles. Now, I'm reading that they're easy to steal, so some insurance companies won't cover them. I traded it in for a Honda CR-V, and the difference is startling. I learned my lesson, and will never again buy a Kia.

Scotty I respect your oppinions, having 56 years experience. This is 2023 transitioning to 2024 and the Kia you are referring to is a 2022. I was searching for a more recent video about the Kia Sportage EX FWD SUV with 2.5 liter four cylinder engine, with 8 speed transmission. Naturally not much power with 187 horse power & 178 feet Lbs. of torque. But like the room behind the front seats and cargo space. Plus a larger fuel tank 14.3 25cty/32 hi wy A new review. I like best how it operates at night. The Projector LED Head Lights signals & tail lights. But the driver door doesn’t include a standard door light to alert other motorists a door is being opened. Seeing less models having this extra peice of mind. Once i decide between it, and the Buick Envista with 3 cylinder 6 speed trans. Same price range. I would prefer a compact spare tire option and better night drive lighting. Both have same disadvantages. But the Sportage has more leg room. Would like to see a review regardless if you think it’s a POS.

I decided to change my oil again after about 1k miles before a long trip. When I did, the oil was super dark (BLACK) and thick. The synthetic oil seemed to clean out the engine. Not long after my oil pump was toast. For this reason, I hesitate to use synthetic oil on older cars, or in cars that have not ran synthetic oil in the past.
