Owned an Audi Q7. I became a baby sitter for the vehicle. Spent a great amount of time driving to the dealer for service. Computer was a mess, hard acceleration turning left caused a stall. Battery was under the drivers seat in a well. My wallet fell to the floor and bounced into the well. Impossible to retrieve. Called dealership and was told they employed a contortionist mechanic capable of doing the deed. He did but shows how often some such bounce occurred. Worst so called luxury vehicle I ever owned.

I test drove about 3 Ford Focuses and they all had transmission problems. One shuddered under acceleration like it was going to fall apart, another one made a horrible crunching noise and I forget what was wrong with the third one. Then I Googled Ford Focus transmission problems and found out about the inherently fault-prone dual clutch tranny. So I test drove a Mazda3 SP25, it was smooth and quiet and fun to drive. Still have it today, brilliant little car.

I had an Audi A6 3.0T, and the reason I sold it was because the dealer's service team I'd used for 5 years fell away. I had 2 guys I got a long with, and always gave me a break on parts and maintenance. Got a few free oil changes. Always sung their praises. I drove across the country in that car without issue. It's a space ship. After a point though I got new people and it was clear the magic that was there was gone. They charged me 900 to fix a tail light, only to ask for another 2000 to fix the other part for the same issue. Fishing for service charges. Mechanically the Supercharged V6 was great. It went 0-60 in 5.2 and if I trailed on the highway I got 38 mpg one time, normally around 33mpg. It was a nice clean car the whole time I had it, and I would buy it again if I found a better service center. Germans have electrical issues, but that's not unique to audi, that's BMW, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes, KTM, all of them. People get audis and then don't service them, then they cry they don't work.

Agreed most people do not do proper maintenance to German cars,,they run them into the ground and then just trade them in or sell them
@masonreppeto882
@masonreppeto882 14 күн бұрын
@@kresstek No, German cars stop working on their own. You don't get to blame lack of maintenance on failing starters and tie rod bearings at less than 100k miles. They are no more reliable than American brands or kia. However, what's sad is kia actually has better reliability than BMW or VW. IF KIA cars weren't freaking death traps, I'd probably drive one if I couldn't get my hands on a Honda. BMW abandoned actual reliability 25+ years ago just like the American brands did.

I had one of those 2014 Ford Focus with the faulty DCT and PCM. That was a real POS. The straw that broke the camels back was when it wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear in the middle of the morning rush hour traffic in the Bay Area. That was after Ford had replaced the clutch and PCM for either the 2nd or 3rd time. It jerked while it shifted from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. Then the radio went out and randomly crackled and popped, even with the radio powered off.

Audi has 2 big connections under the hood for jump starting, so you don’t need to go to the trunk - only if you’re sure that you’ve got a battery at all. Scotty, That beauty cover on the engine you complain about does have a function. It is there to shield the hood from the high heat of the engine which over time causes the paint on the hood to fail prematurely. Years ago, instead of the beauty cover, they used to have an insulation pad attached to the hood which was usually about a 1" thick piece of fiberglass insulating material.

We have a 2015 Focus and it's been fine. The DCT had to get new clutches and pressure seals at 70K but after that it drove better than when it was brand new. So far so good. I'll never buy a DCT again but we do intend to drive this thing into the ground. We have almost 140K on it now.
@aussie2uGA
@aussie2uGA Ай бұрын
The Ford Powershift DCT was a dry design, where the clutches did not get bathed in oil. As they wore, the material had nowhere to go but gather at the bottom and on sections of the plates. This caused massive grabbing and slipping issues. This would happen as soon as 15k miles after the "repair" because it was just a bad design.
@thehighllama8101
@thehighllama8101 Ай бұрын
Yeah. Ford knew about the transmission issues before the Focus and Fiesta even went on sale to the public. Apparently, they had no transmission to replace the Powershift DCT, because it was specifically designed by Getrag to fit in the Focus/Fiesta (either that, or the Focus/Fiesta were designed with only enough space for the Powershift DCT).I suppose Ford thought they could fix the transmission issues somewhere down the road, via recalls. Or maybe they just thought, 'Screw the customers'. Anyway, none of the fixes Ford tried worked, because the Powershift is just an inherently bad design, like you said.

They just use a lot of cheaply made components. I know people that have owned the 200C and that thing was flagrantly unreliable. Now in case you are one that claims you have one with the 2.4 with 500,000 miles and it's been a jewel to own for one I don't really believe you and two you are the 1 in 1 million that just got very lucky.
