2012 through 2017 share the same engines and transmission. So look at those first and only get the SE if you like a stiffer suspension. Otherwise, the LE will be a value buy and the XLE is the luxury buy with most options and leather.

2014.5 owner as well. Watch for the torque converter shudder on these. Toyota issued a warranty extension a month after I bought mine new in 14. Toyota covered the torque converter for 8 years or 150k miles. Mine just failed last February at 86k. My 8 years was in June. My dealer replaced the torque converter free of charge no questions asked. Best customer service on a vehicle of any brand I've ever owned, including Honda. I'm a Toyota customer for life. Outside of that, the car is as solid and quiet as it was the day I drove it off the lot. Oil stays clean between changes, and there is zero consumption.

Hey there, Scotty. I bought one of these babies a little more than a month ago, and I’m LOVING it! It’s a beautiful Cosmic Grey 2012 SE that only had slightly under 116,000 miles on the clock and only one previous owner whom obviously babied it, as I had discovered when I washed it and detailed it for the very first time 2 weeks ago. And as far as being “the perfect used car for anyone,” you are 100% correct! In addition to such crucial categories as safety, reliability, fuel economy, comfort, and low annual cost of ownership, it’s got everything else I really wanted: leather interior with sueded inserts, sunroof, paddle shifters, Toyota’s awesome Entune infotainment system…the works! And the proverbial ‘icing on the cake?’ ‘Shadow’ is quite a looker! I get tons and tons of compliments from all of my colleagues on ‘his’ angular, lantern-jawed looks, which is all the more remarkable considering how I park on the side of our office building where 4 of our executives park (a.k.a. Millionaire’s Row) and they all own 3 newer Mercedes-Benzes and 1 newer Volvo S60 among themselves. In a nutshell, my Camry SE more than holds its own in the aesthetics department. Great video, Scotty! Keep up the excellent work!

I just wanted to point out the fact that the Toyota Camry has had the 2AR-FE since 2009. This was the year the engine was introduced and utilized in a lot of Toyota vehicles, it was meant to replace the 2AZ. If you're looking for a used Camry in North America, anything 2009 or newer is a safe bet. 2008 and previous years used the 2AZ which was known for its oil burning problem.

Really glad I’ve watched your videos for a little while now, because 2 months ago, I found myself shopping around for a nicely used Camry and had to choose between a white 2010 LE model with the exact same 2AR 4cyl/6spd auto power train or a 2012 SE V6. After driving both and looking at numbers, the older one came home with us! The SE was far superior in terms of power and tech, but a $5500 price difference and harsher ride wasn’t worth it. The 2.5 in ours has plenty of pep to get us up to Tahoe and all around Northern Nevada with relative ease.. and with gas prices being jacked up around 35-40 cents more than the national average around here, it’s miserly fuel consumption is greatly appreciated 😂👌 Keep up the great work, Scotty! Scotty just FYI Toyota used the 2AR-FE engine with 6 speed trans in the Camry from 2012-2017. I have a 2017 with the 2AR and 6 speed transmission and love it. Totally agree with you on the fact that the 2AR is one of the best Toyota engines. Also took your advice and chose a slightly older Camry over the newer ones with the 8 speed trans. I traded a 2012 Camry for my 2017 Camry. Under the hood it's identical to the 2012 I traded.

I picked up one of these 2012 Camrys with 26K miles 1 old lady owner that was fully decked. I have added 35K miles to it and is nice both short buzzing around too long trips. The only problem I have had was that the front bumper part I have scraped both bottom edges and battery lug to cable connector broke. The car has good power when you push on the gas and it goes. A little bit of shake of the front breaks on steep off-ramps from the interstate going 75+, but never felt like it wasn't breaking.

Man, this is such an under stated comment. Back in the 90s and 2000s, i worked as an electrician and worked in many foreigners homes. Most had Toyotas and a few had Hondas. Most conversations about why they choose their vehicles waa that they wanted and have passed down the vehicles from generation to generation. One guy bought a Sienna cuz he had 3 littles ones. 14 years later and he still had the van and was still in great shape. I always kept that in mind.

My trick = accelerate slowly, use name brand gasoline (not cheap gas at sketchy gas stations), run full synthetic oil (oil changes every 3k using premium oil filter), 4 wheel alignment/ tire rotation/wheel balance every 3k, proper tire pressure, and using PEA Gumout fuel cleaner every two weeks, replace engine air filter between 7-8K miles. These are my results and yours may vary. Happy Motoring! Keep up the great work, Scotty!
