Hey Scotty, I have a 2018 Honda Accord lx with 13,000 miles that suffers from oil dilution which we all know about the earth dreams engine. Another thing that isn't talked about as much but is still a common issue is the rear camshaft seals were very poorly made. Mine leaks a bit of oil and if you search up the issue you can find that it is actually quite common. I just figured I would mention it incase you want another example of how poor Honda's quality has become.

Well I daily drive a Ford with a 2.0 Mazda engine and because it's a manual it's pretty quick but with an automatic it's a complete dog, because it only has a narrow power band. So if you work the gearbox like a racing driver you outperform anyone with an ordinary car but if you're not very good at driving a manual or have an automatic you won't get anything good out of it.

@@auletjohnast03638 Yeah, 70s cars had little to no maintenance costs, because they had no technology. Means if you crash your 70s Mustang, you will certainly die. How stupid do you have to be to expect a modern car loaded with tech and security features and a beefy engine to be same as reliable as a 70s car... Of course there are things breaking more often if you have twice the tech. And if course it is easier to repair a head gasket on a 6.2l 90 Horsepower gas hog than on a 1.6 Turbo with 180hp. And not to mention that cars back then also had serious problems. Like Ford Pintos that randomly blow up when rear ended. So what is your point?

Mazdas handle great. Any mazda will handle better than its competitors in any class. Almost as good as lexus, more slop but also more feel. Hydrolic steering kept instead of stupid electronic steering. They use modified ford power steering pumps, maybe the best made hydrolic accessory ever made as far as reliability and rare leaks, failures. Uses Tras fluid. So loud and sounds like its gonna break from day 1 but lasts all the way to the crusher.

The benefit being automatic versions tend to be more gently driven (or less likely raced/modified). They can still be a little pricey. But in this day its still a cheap way to have fun with a car.

junkmail I’ve yet to see a high school kid driving these. It’s always guys in their 30’s and half of them auto cross them. I once saw a woman own one only because I worked valet in Vegas and seen thousands of cars come in. Otherwise yeah, it’s never a high school kid always some working guy in his 30’s - 50’s.

I used to autocross one of these. It was a real hoot. Handled like an Austin Healy Sprite with oversteer. The Miata was styled after the Lotus Elite. All the ratios are from the Lotus. The top was extremely easy to put up and down - one handed. The optional hard top was a very good investment, especially in the winter in northern VA. BTW, Scotty, did you notice the check engine light was on?

I had one for 16 years. The first year. White with black. I got 250,000 miles on the original clutch which was still working when I sold it to a friend. One replaced timing belt, one replaced water pump. Three tops. I replaced the radiator as the plastic one was useless in the Gulf Coast heat. The wiring was starting to get quirky. Plastic window was much larger. Loved the simple manual top. Best top I ever had. Sure beat the MGB, 325ic, old Jag. It was similar to the 70s Fiat Spider top.

Scotty, great cars as they are, you live in a place without grit on the road. In the UK, these great little cars dissolve into pieces of rust. The least sought after version, too. 94 Celicas don’t rust.

in '89 i got into a Miata at a car show. i had the seat as far back as it would go, and the steering wheel as high as it could be set. then i pushed in the clutch. my leg got stuck between the steering wheel and the clutch pedal. i literally used the open palm of my right hand to repeatedly punch my left leg until i got it free. i was 17 and only 6' 3" tall never been in one since!

Snatched a 2000 Miata Special Edition a year ago with 97k miles for $3,500. It had well over $1,000 in tastful upgrades such as leather seat covers, top tier roll bar, touch screen radio, keyless entry, K&N air filter, floor mats, Miata sun reflector, and a new top with with glass and defroster. I’ve had a fuel pump fail and now what I believe is a blown head gasket or stuck valve. I don’t mind working on it. It’s an amazing car and well worth it’s value!

Hey, Scotty! I got a 2002 Toyota Camry 2.4L cylinder. The car starts at about 1,800-2000RPM, a high rpm for start up and then 5 minutes later goes back to around 800-1000RPM. Why is this happening? Usually happens after letting it sit at night and starting up in the morning OR anytime after not using it for a while (2-3 days). Thanks for all your videos! You the MVP!!

I had a 1997 Malta hardtop for a few years. My x wife made me give up my bike so I got this. Great fun car. Easy to work on. Just don't crash it, your dead. Needs a roll bar. Not a city traffic car. I live out in the country. Fun on country roads. I want another one.

I own a 91 with 179555miles. Best purchase I have ever made with the hardtop at $5000. I may have overpaid at the time but the car has great red paint and zero rust. The car has never given me any hassle and was well worth the extra $1500 to $2500 to get one that was stock and well maintained.
