he would rather score 22 than 25 24 then 26 20 then 22 ...he sacrificed points for passes that led to scores for others to make them feel involved...he took control late unlike most bigs with ft troubles..he was never scarred to shoot or dribble even at his size..i think what Duncan lost stat wise or award wise he gained from respect...I think hes the 9th best player ever and had the 7th best career....only superhumans are ahead of him...

If possible I'd like to see Dirk and C bosh talking about Kobe's greatness I think it'd be a good tribute to really illuminate how transcendent of a player he was. IMO this 2020 class is KOBE I love Timmy to death but this should be about 1 man and 1 man only.

One of the biggest coaching blunders ever. Up 5 points with like 30 seconds when leading 3-2 in the series. Popovich decided to take Duncan out of the game, bc coach wanted better perimeter defense. They got the good perimeter defense, but not the rebound. The rebound went to Miami and the rest was history. Duncan would’ve grabbed that rebound and the Spurs would’ve won the title. I remember literally screaming at the tv. Pop was like: “ok team let’s go win this title, one more stop and we win. Duncan, go to the bench. We are gonna win this one without you.” Popovich out coached himself. Despite the fact that Duncan had like 30 pts n 12 boards. Popovich is and was a great coach; but not on that night.

Duncan wasn't even on the court during that play. They got their revenge the following year though. He could've been top 5 all-time if they won that.

I think he is as good in defending as Dikembe Mutombo. How did he not get a dpoy. He is also one of the 5 players to ever get a quadruple double (Not officially cause mistakes by refs. One block was counted as Robinsons even tho Duncan was the first to touch the ball and for one block it the shot didn’t count as a shot attempt in the eyes of the refs). If you get 20 Rebounds and 10 Blocks in a game then you gotta be a great defender. He also averaged 3 Blocks per game for most of his career. That’s way better the. Even Giannis. And over his 19 year career he averaged as many Blocks as Giannis in his best block season. He also averaged a double double with rebounds.

Duncan won't be forgotten so long as people editorialize his career well against the mind controlled casual sports fan from America and America's cities. I grew up with people who legit BELIEVED Iverson was the great point guard of all time. So long as Duncan is consistently put in anyone's top 10 all-time list and is elevated above Bron is Finals match up debates, everything will be just fine. He is 5-1 as the best player on a team to lead his franchise to multiple championships. Never forget that.

Duncan is perfect in the sense that he's been the only guy to have a dynasty in a small NBA market. It's pretty much unheard of for a city like San Antonio to stay that competitive for nearly 20 years and Duncan was the centerpiece of it all. We see small market teams make dents in the status quo. Like the Kings with Webber, the Suns with Nash, OKC with Durant, Malone and Stock in Utah, Shaq in Orlando. But usually they don't win championships.

Felipe NUFC when it comes to nba basketball, yes it was. The team only started in the 80s, not technically a “big market” when there are other things to do, and the city is heavily international and basketball was not “popular”. He made point of 20 years in a small market and being dominant. I would say the heat from the late 90s (after jordan retired) up until recently - and i think miami was #3 in the east before the nba stopped) i would say thats a long stretch. Yes, they had fans for dwade, but it wasnt until lebron played there that the big fanfare ensued. And now, its empty seats in the stands again.

I liked the heat before dwade arrived, but TD is my favorite 4 of all time. But they had glen rice, harold miner, rony siekaly, dan majerle, tim hardaway...they would face the bulls and knicks in playoffs pretty frequently. After jordan retired, it was a more dominant west. Tim Duncan and Kareem entered the league winning a championship, and Duncan remained a competitive threat in the playoffs for two decades straight. Mike was only a championship threat for 6 years because of his retirement.

I still remember that '03 Finals. 24, 17, 5, AND 5.5 BLOCKS!!! The man averaged 5.5 blocks a game in a 6 game series. That's never happening again. Not as long as the league plays defense the way it does.

As a long time Spurs fan, I appreciate the video, good work man! TD21 is my all-time favorite player, he is the definition of consistency and a true, quiet, silent killer. So many memories are embedded in my head, but that game tying 3 against Phoenix in the playoffs always stands out. You know he was crunk (yea, I'm old skool) after seeing him emotionally fist pump, haha. Thanks to Timmy for almost 2 great decades of SA basketball!

Only Kareem can say he’s a HOFer with three teams. If he never played in the NBA, he would have been considered a HOFer. He’s the greatest college basketball player ever. If he only played those years with the Bucks he’s at worst because of the Greek freak the second greatest buck ever(still debatable). And he was at worst the 4th greatest laker ever. That’s insane, it may not be perfect but it’s the greatest basketball career and it’s not even close. He’s got that room all to himself.

Since we're singing Kareem's praises, he also should've won the 1980 Finals MVP. Everyone remembers Magic's 42 in game 6. They forget the Lakers were winning 3-2 going into that game because Kareem was a beast, scoring 40 on a bum ankle in game 5. Kareem outscored Magic by 38 points that series even without playing one minute of game 6, but since the media votes for the award and they love their narratives, Magic got the MVP. If you're going to say Magic won them the finale, at least say Kareem won them the first three wins. Imagine, if Kareem won Finals MVP in 1980, his already-illustrious career would be even more legendary. I feel like missing game 6 and not winning MVP of the series actually had a significant impact on how people view his NBA career.
