This is the Hydra from Heretic Knives.
The Hydra by Heretic Knives is a powerful single-action OTF automatic knife built with a unique swiveling button safety for worry-free pocket carry.
The Blade is made of ELMAX steel and is 3.625” long. The thick, centered blade has very little play and can be secured back into the handle by pressing the button and pulling the lanyard on the charging handle all the way down; push it back up, and you're in business!
The handle itself has an unconventional shape facilitating several comfortable grip orientations. Made of copper and black aluminum with purpose-placed jimping and a ball bearing pocket clip for secure right-side carry.
This Hydra proves that Double-action OTFs are cool, but the raw power of a well-built single-action OTF is simply thrill-educing.

Is the copper top considered a custom? If not what is it considered?

These and the Jade should be considered mid-level I'd say. The originals were around 420.00, while the copper and the Jade G-10 were 750.00 and 650.00 respectively.

@@nickprater2785 oh, I purchased one of the copper top models. I love it. I wish they made more single actions and after calling Heretic I was informed that they are releasing some new models of the Hydra later this year. They told me that it’s going to be a little different. I can’t wait.

👀 oh man. Now you got me wondering! Do you like your hydra? SMKW has the copper marked at 600 right now, and I'm thinking about pulling the trigger. I just got the serrated Manticore X Tanto Bounty Hunter, and I'm seriously considering this knife next

@@nickprater2785 the only thing that I have to say about it, it’s got this really cool patina that is starting. I’ve only had it two months but the blues and greens that are starting to form on. That is really cool. when the patina progresses so far, I will add a clearcoat and seal it. If I don’t like it, I can always add some white vinegar and wipe the patina away with it.

Not my jam. If Im going to invest in an OTF, it's going to be double action...Even if I might have to cough up a bit more cash. Not into the charging handle BS. Pocket clip is to over done and clunky. Less is always more, IMO of course. Plus, Im not into copper handles. Just not for me. Better options at the $750 price point.

The double action isn't as rigid as a single. I like the double action more myself as well, but when this knife is deployed, it's very different from a DA OTF. Single actions are tanks when they're locked out.

@@nickprater2785 Agreed but if Im carrying a DA OTF, a tank is not what Im looking for. It would most likely be a weak side back up to my strong side firearm and most DA OTF work very effectively in that capacity. My blades that are tanks are typically used for utility purposes and hard use. I would never use any OTF in this capacity unless in a pinch.
