Microtech Knives VS Heretic knives: The single action showdown
Today we have a showdown among two titans of the industry, one veteran and the other is a up and comer. Father VS Son, Vet vs newcomer, this is going to get interesting.

Fun fact, the owner and founder of Heretic is the son of the owner and founder of Micro-Tech. The son used to work for Micro-Tech but parted to start Heretic. Both are great companies and have the same quality tolerances.

Also pretty sure the owner and founder of Guardian Tactical used to be one of the lead designers/engineers at Microtech.

Picked a hydra this week and it's been nice for carry versus the halo 6 I have. But both are epic pieces and the halo is just so iconic!

I dont have a halo, but i LOVE my hydra. I think of it like an edc halo. I also did not experience the charging handle wear or button cover wear you had. The hydra Definitely made me a hydra fan. Immediately bought a wraith afterwards, and i carry them non stop

Microtech s best otf blade shape is interceptor!!! Interceptor. Wish they would produce that blade shape

Yeah I agree with the interceptor. Absolutely love my interceptor CT. Plus you can even get the blade inlaid! I did abalone shell!

Not to be a MT fanboy, but knowing that many of the folks at Microtech, including Anthony, are black rifle enthusiasts... It certainly could be the case that they designed the Halo 6 to feel familiar to someone used to the charging handle on an AR-15. Both of them certainly have very similar release tabs, and that sort of loose feel is something very familiar to anyone with ARs. Maybe that's intentional.

So first off I don't play that whole gatekeeping/censorship nonsense on my channel, so be a fan boy and feel free to say whatever you want here brother. Secondly while that is entirely possible, it's also one of the universal complaints from every reviewer I have seen and it detracts from a overall fantastic knife in my opinion. Either way thank you for your input man.

I love the halo but when u spend over a grand on a premium knife there’s should be no blade or charging handle play

My gosh I'm kinda bummed that you didn't compare the blade play with these 2 knives, otherwise from that your video was fantastic.

You should have compared apples to apples not apples to oranges. The hellhound blade is meant to be more aesthetic than functional. You should have compared the tanto version which is a lot more similar blade wise but also closes some of the price gap. Or size wise compared a halo 4 which carries in the same manner.

Microtechs have a better resell value and often go up in price once out of stock, had a couple rare customs I regret selling.. but yeah if a particular model goes out of stock, the street value automatically goes up!! The stitch was a $300 knife, once it was out of stock the street value was $450-$500 for yrs... now my goal is to get a Scarab 2 before those go missing for another 5yrs

Red wolf edc Let's not forget the fact that the microtech isn't locked up all the way, you didn't even notice throughout your entire video. The microtech button will be flush with the handle when it's locked up, notice it's a little recessed when deplyed... It's not locked up.you can push the blade right back in. I know because mine has historically had the same issue

So I'm not sure about yours but that hasn't been an issue for mine, it sticked a bit at first but in time even that went away. I actually still have this knife and it preforms beautifully.

Hello sir, does the Halo V have the same wiggle as the Halo 6 in the charging handle? I don’t remember that wiggle when I held a Halo V. I don’t like it at all.. thank you for the video. Liked and subscribed 👍🏽

Yeah the charge handle moves all over the place and feels kind of janky as a result.

I like how on both have cool ways of charging them, The Hydra you get that pulls strip which.... I think is pretty nice! then the Halo 6 its charging handle is like pulling the charging handle on my new AR-15! which is just freaking cool! Kyle! Bra I cant wait to get my Halo 6 it should get to me on May 2nd.!!!! omg imma do the hotdog test..... lmao

I do have it, but its now discontinued, almost impossible to find in this configuration and its also one of my absolute favorite knives. So feel free to make an offer on my instagram or Facebook (both are linked in the description) but it will take some convincing.

Microtech Halo quality has dropped big time since the 4. Sadly. Heretic is beating them in most areas especially quality control right now

Was considering copping the heretic hydra..then I watched this video. Have several microtech otf's and I dont like the firing button on the hydra. Also the wear on the charging handle is a big minus, same reason why I didnt pull the trigger on a benchmade autocrat. Long story short, I'll stick with microtech.

I actually really like the hydra and I still own one which says a lot. I do like the halo more but the halo is also one of my favorite knives of all time.

@@RedwolfEDC I wish I could find a halo in stock. Multiple websites I use have all been out of stock for quite some time. Out of all my knives I gotta say my combat troodon's are my favorite. Good video btw keep it up! 🇺🇸

Microtech seems way better quality to me have halo 6 it's big so single action is ok for me but the hydra looks small like halo 4 minds well get combat troodon just a thought

It’s actually right about the exact same size as a combat troodon, it’s a bit thinner though.

Yes sir, I'm aware. Though heretic has some very different designs and in my experience a much smother action on their OTF's, though to be fair I still like microtech more but damn if Tony's kid isn't extremely talented
