such a great interview, these 2 Ladies are just awesome and super cute how Kanami gets fidgety like a little girl. I met them both twice at a meet and greet in LA in 2019 and was really blown away how tiny Kanami was, she is like a doll but turns into "Chucky" when you give her a guitar!

Herman Li is a man of his word, and he earned a fan in me that day. Kanami is just so sweet, until she picks up a guitar. 🐯🤘🏼 Best live stream I ever witnessed. Herman said it was a record for him, with 4500 in the chat at peak.

I am sorry that I have to burst you bubble but the "Rusty Cooley" stream on February 10th had close to 20.000 viewers after being promoted on the top spot on the twitch homepage. But yeah, leaving promoteds stream aside I have never seen that many people on his stream before that.

@@gt1man931 I was there when it happened, it's true. If you are subbed to Herman on twitch you can go take a look at the VOD (Feb 10th) and watch the chat replay. At around the 2h mark there are several mentions of the live viewer count as well as several other times during the stream that I don't want to look up now.

Kanami is my favorite 5 year old thirty year old guitarist. She is the most adorable kawaii member for me. She fidgets like a little girl. I keep waiting for Miku to give her a toy to play with or a piece of candy. I love Kanami.

Possibly my favourite youtube comment ever XD and so true. The way Kanami leans on and plays with Miku's clothing is perfectly child-like. It's so easy to imagine Miku giving her said toy or candy lol Miku is super cute and all sorts of lovable, but there's a maturity and professionalism driving her Band-Maid persona. Not so with Kanami, who simply is absurdly precious and whose savant-like musical genius clearly occupies 99.9% of her mind.

Japan has some of the most melodic guitar players in the world, Hizaki being number one in my opinion, definitely worth checking out.. I look forward to Herman’s journey to becoming an idol in Japan and also future colabs with Band-Maid.. maybe a song perhaps? 😊

Definitely, i remember hearing Hizaki when i heard The revenant choir by Versailles back around 2011 and fell in love with his guitar playing. Also Li must have a collab vid with Hizaki or even Teru i won't mind at all.

Herman Li with Dragon Force are the most pro-active western band , working with the Japanese female bands. It takes guts to follow Lovebites and have Babymetal perform with them. Miku and Kanami are so talented and beautiful, but don't let Miku's cuteness fool you, she is a very smart and tough lady. She put together a band with members who were strangers to her and got it to work while learning to play the guitar and sing at the same time. Plus changing record companies so they could advance in the industry.

Thank you so much for uploading this ... I loved watching the whole thing, was great to see Miku and Kanami in a more loose talk, everyone being funny. I hope Kanami gets her own Hair-Pedal... or at least crafts a Hair-Wah one for those WahWah moments, that would be really cool! ...after "Black Hole", I can't wait for a 250bpm new song... What was the BPM of the fastest Dragonforce song? Herman thought it was 230 BPM. I think you can see in Kanami's eyes, 次の曲は240BPMになります(The next song will be 240 BPM). Soon after, Akane probably got a text from Misa saying, "you want some "Beam God" with your banana?"

A-chan has to be fed very well in order to convince her to drum at such speed. She already went through "Hell" with the song "Black Hole". What she also could do is buy a "Triple Bass Drum Pedal" to kick extremely fast, but there is nothing to compensate with the hands.

04:55 For that question, would’ve loved to hear Kanami answer it instead. While I’ve read about it here and there but it would’ve been great to see her go into detail on how she exactly works and manages to remain so consistent in her output rate and quality. Songwriters often have really interesting places and ways to draw inspiration from, and going by how eccentric she seems, she probably has a lot of unconventional ways to go about it.

She has said in an interview (translated somewhere on the band maid subreddit) that she submits a song a week to their agency. Almost every week it's just partial because obviously a whole complete song a week would be too much. She does it as a challenge as she believes she "forgets" how or gets sloppy so this keeps her in good form I guess.

@@piroh-nv3jg Yeah, I’m aware of that. Btw it’s not an official submission but something she does on a personal level, as a director from the agency was willing to help her out as a mentor of sorts. I’ve read most of their translated stuff but there’s not much detail on her thought process. Hopefully we’ll get to hear more of her in future interviews or if they do some kind of documentary.
