I became facinated with bonsai, when recuperating in a Tokyo hospital, during the Vietnam war. Over the years, I've tried my hand at it, but it wasn't until I discovered Peter on KZfaq, that I finally got some really satisfying results. Thank you, Peter.

I've salvaged it and will be cutting back the roots and planting in a mix of my compost, pine bark and sphagnum moss. I'm crossing my fingers as the stump has been sitting out in their yard for several days.

Amazing trees peter! I just recently dug up 3 Red Maples(Acer rubrum) and posted them on my channel too. they aren’t nearly as big as most of the trees in your video. I wish I had an actual plot of land I could grow more trees out on. the method I used for the Red maples was taken from one of your books, the title was Bonsai but I don’t recall which one it was. That book has a really good section on both growing from seeds and field growing. Also not sure if you remember but I had asked about the method of developing seedlings from your book Bonsai Masterclass as to how you develop a seedling within a pot with yearly pruning in the spring. Love your videos Peter, excited for possibly spending some time learning from you in the future. :)
