İch gehe laufen. (I am going for a run) Why are we not using “zu” or “zum” in this sentence(Ich gehe zum laufen)? And if it’s a separate topic, would you please tell me the name of the topic?
@HerrFerguson
@HerrFerguson 4 ай бұрын
‘Zum’ is short for ‘zu dem’ (to the) “I am going for a run” is just an idiomatic way of saying “I am going running” (literal translation) Ich gehe = I am going laufen = running

in the sentence I want to go to the market will we use 'zu'? will it be like ich will markt gehen or ich will zu markt gehen
@HerrFerguson
@HerrFerguson 15 күн бұрын
You need ‘zu’ and the article, in this case ‘dem’ Ich will zu dem Markt gehen (I want to go to the market) Without that, its ’I want to go market’

Hi mr fergusson, i have a question BLEIBEN SIE RUHIG , WIR FINDEN IHREN BRUDER. Why isnt it wir will ihren bruder finden? And also the sentance: SEIEN SIE NICHT NERVOS, ALLES IST IN ORDNUNG Why seien and not sei nicht nervos?
@HerrFerguson
@HerrFerguson Жыл бұрын
Hi, in the first one it’s idiomatic use: we are finding your brother = we will find your brother (in this context) In the second example, it’s ‘seien’ because the subject is ‘Sie’ and this is the correct conjugation in the imperative. I hope that helps!

"That means we dont use them with modal verbs", is it better using "ich lerne Deutsch, um in Deutschland Arbeit zu finden" instead of "Ich lerne Deutsch, um in Deutschland Arbeit finden zu können"?
