@Joda_-.-4 жыл бұрын
Easier minesweeper*
@BebxOfficial4 жыл бұрын
@@Joda_-.- Minesweeper is easy, though. It's also impossible to be 100% perfect at it as sometimes you *need* to guess. Hexcells would have a higher skill ceiling since you don't guess at all. Thus I'd say it's harder, since although it's easy to be decent at, there's a lot to learn and since it's about skill over luck, it's harder to be the best at.
@TheNamesSnek4 жыл бұрын
@@BebxOfficial no, trust me, hexcells is easier. It sucks working on a hard minesweeper field for over an hour, only to have to guess at the end and you get it wrong. You don't have to worry about that in hexcells though, so it's most likely easier. Hexcells in general is definitely more forgiving
@reishin64 жыл бұрын
@@TheNamesSnek Luck =/= Difficulty
@BebxOfficial4 жыл бұрын
@@TheNamesSnek I know. I've played Minesweeper. I love it too. I know how lucky the game is. At a certain point, there's less skill involved. Look at the lotto versus getting a job and just grinding out a million dollars. There's so much more depth to getting a job than there is in winning the lotto yet the lotto is a lot less reliable. It's luck. Same goes with Minesweeper versus Hexcells. Call it a false equivalency, but it's pretty much my reasoning in how there's no way Minesweeper has a higher skill cap than Hexcells. Now does a high skill gap mean a high amount of skill in is required? No. But since Hexcells has more aspects to it than Minesweeper, that means that it is harder, just by the simple fact that there's more to it. There's no way that Minesweeper, with its simplicity, is harder than Hexcells. But I dunno I've not played Hexcells at all, I'm just someone who loves to both play Minesweeper a lot, and loves to hate Minesweeper a lot. so maybe I'm biased. eh. tbh play what ya like, I don't mind.

@RussianLearnsYou4 жыл бұрын
For some reason, I too thought that minesweeper had 4, when I first had discovered Hexcells. Cause it's squares. You can fool yourself thinking that they have 4 sides, therefore they must have had 4 options to click on

It's really not just hexagonal Minesweeper. The games introduce a lot of new mechanics that turn the core Minesweeper mechanic on its head and inside out
@billabobyt4 жыл бұрын
It reminds me of a game I played years ago called Mine of Sight, it's like Minesweeper but every few levels they introduce a new gimmicky cell that progressively makes the game harder and harder.

I had the same kind of rush in minesweeper when my subconsious just finished one expert level after the other and I fell into this trance of left and right clicks. Sometimes my mind starts to play it´s own minesweeper levels when I am bored and it is really scary yet oddly fascinating when my subconsious creates and solves a relatively complex game on it´s own without mistakes.

Hexcells doesn't have the 50/50 bullshit you see in minesweeper
@0ia4 жыл бұрын
@@randalica92 You can fix that by randomly generating levels in a different, smarter way. I bet a version like that already exists. If not, it won't be hard to make an algorithm for that.

@Arrow Head except it never is guess work, and don't throw that 50/50 bullshit reddit post at me which has already been disproven by many a man.
@TheBellKeeper4 жыл бұрын
@Arrow Head no he's right, minesweeper doesn't involve any guesswork from the player if its programmed properly. its just like the narrator in the video, you have to learn whats in adjacent cells based upon the numbers. infact i'd say its the exact same game in a different format. he's describing minesweeper, just with hexes. give him minesweeper instead, he'd likely enjoy it just as much. that said, im sure there are fan-made minesweeper versions that do require guesswork (ive experienced one, had to do some probability math), but theyre not official.

This game was my JAM when it came out, played all three, so glad to see it getting praise here. PLEASE give this level of love to Picross 3D on DS and Picross 3D 2 on 3DS, they are both phenomenal. I prefer the first one, I found the dual colours of the sequel made the puzzles EASIER rather than more challenging, once you get used to how they work, but the graphics are beautiful, although that meant sacrificing the fun animations, sheer number of puzzles, and most sadly of all, the puzzle creator, from the first game. But still, I want this series to be known so that they sell more to justify making more games! I need more Picross 3D (with level editor)! On the switch would be ideal!

This gives me fond memories of christmas 2015, when I discovered this for the first time. This satisfied my inner perfectionist, and it posed the challenge to me to beat this without having a mistake in any puzzle. I remember a hard one where I more or less started constructing theorems on Hexcells solving, because I knew damn well it could be solved logically. It probably took me longer than it should have, but was one of the most satisfying things I've ever done. Back in that year I played a lot of online games and I was rather raging at that, and Hexcells was just that bit of relaxation I needed in between the games. Speedrunning an infinite while queuing for the next match worked for me - I'm not a rage gamer any more! \o/
