HF FULL BAND Mod. v1 - Quansheng UV-K5 (Skyworks Si4732 chip, LYSIA)

LUSYA Si4732 HF FULL BAND modification of Quansheng UV-K5 and UV-K6 portable radio. We remove old Beken BK1080 FM chip, and replace it with a new Skyworks Si4732-A10 SDR chip, which is the essense of the LYSIA HF FULL BAND mod. After this mod your radio will have new SDR receiver when entering FM mode on your quansheng UV-k5 or UV-k6, new tuner has the following capabilities:
- Worldwide FM band support (64-108 MHz)
- Worldwide AM band support (520-1710 kHz)
- SW band support (2.3-26.1 MHz)
- LW band support (153-279 kHz)
- Excellent real-world performance with integrated AM/FM/SW/LW/RDS
- Integrated VCO
- Advanced AM/FM seek tuning
- Automatic frequency control (AFC)
- Automatic gain control (AGC)
- Digital FM stereo decoder
- Programmable de-emphasis
- Advanced Audio Processing
- Seven selectable AM channel filters
- AM/FM/SW/LW digital tuning
Now, you have to understand, even though you are modifying your quansheng, you are not modifying your quansheng -- because the radio part of it will remain the same, you are merely replacing a chip, which in your stock radio is responsible for FM broadcast radio reception. With this new mod, you are replacing that FM chip with an SDR chip which provides you with all the above mentioned functionality. However, it's only as good as the software... Browse my channel, there is video titled Do you need FULL BAND HF LUSYA Si4732 Mod. .. In that video's description there is link to the new brown board. Get that one. I got that one. Should arrive May 1st or earlier and then we'll do a video about installing that thing into my personal radio.

There is a way to make youtube content that is watched and loved by most, I'm still learning, you're looking at my first video. Give me a chance. In this first version we didn't do something, we couldn't, because it wasn't in instructions. There is one more jumper has to be installed to increase sound. Stay tuned, I'm show where to install it.

The choke is 1mh? 1/2w i can use an 1.5mh?

Originally they were shipped with cheap 1mH 1/4w. You can replace it with 1/2. Not sure about 1.5mH, probably not. But people found out that these chokes are high ESR and they get hot when you transmit. So there is now a better option. There is a pinned comment to this video, with time marks for the video, table of contents. Reply to that comment is the needed choke and everything else. Check it out and get that one instead. It is NLV32T-471J-EF, 470 мкГн, 1210, 5% high freq and low ESR choke. If you doing single antenna get that one for best results.

23:57....You need to break off these pieces on the board. There are even holes drilled on the break line. Well, how is that?! 🤦‍♂

That's what I'm doing here, but outside country, there is no way you'd be able to pay me. We don't have SWIFT, there is no way you will be able to pay -- unless you're in few select countries like China, Cuba, Venesuela, Turkey, Iran, Belarus, etc.. But that's not a problem, you should be able to find a repair shop inside your country to get this mod done!! It's not something you have to send across the world to get done. Stay tuned, I have two new versions of this board coming up, both are brown in color. I'll be doing a quick guide, without hot air, just soldering iron , anyone can follow and DIY type of thing.

I watched a couple of videos on that modification. With all the jumper wires required to get the breakout board and chip installed, the end result looks like a rats nest.

I ordered two brown board, those are the new board versions. The new one, and then couple of days later came out even the newer one. So soon I'll do a video on installing those. But this time around something quick, and something DIY, using soldering iron, so that anyone can do it themselves. Stay tuned.
