just bought on of these and grinded out rear gear box on the first crawl indoors.took the gear box apart and noticed that gears are metal but are very cheap aluminum.so i upgraded to a metal covered gear box that probably has the same cheap gears inside.I also had a couple of old traxxas rustlers laying around so I took the rear shocks from them and put them in my hg.I had to use the front shock springs though because the rear springs are a little bigger and harder.anyway to make a long story short I would definitely recommend it for the price and would buy again.Hopefully the make a steel gear option in the future.I have a couple of real crawlers like my axial spawn but I still like this little trail crawler a lot (thanks for the review cheers.)

I really like these. For the money, they're about as good as you can get. Add a few dollars, stiffer frame rails better steering servo. A mini servo for the gearbox and change the battery and body. A better motor is a big plus too. If ya install a 4 channel ya can add a winch!!! With the Lexan body lights are really easy to add. Now, it's NOT a Traxxas, HPI, Red Cat or even a Tamiya ( well, as good at least), and pretty inexpensive too. I have two of these. One is bone stock for the kids. The other, well, its pretty built. I think the trans/gearbox is about all that's left of the original truck. Used LOTS of red alum upgrades a 5200 mAh LiPo and went WAY OVERBOARD on the body. Full lights, camo roll bar tarp, roof rack, light bar, super detail parts for the " cool" factor. I built a US Border Patrol Vehicle. Has loads of camping, traffic control, military gear all strapped into the roof mount cargo basket with cargo netting to keep it in place. It went the way of my WPL 1/16 scale models. $150+ in mods/upgrades for a $40 truck. Seriously, HG and WPL are kinda addictive. So many parts, so available and SO CHEAP

i picked up a 6x6 hg i got to say i tried to break it snaped middle drive shaft from putting rocks on the back still pulled its dead 4 rear wheels with front wheels with lots of spin to light to put up anything steap. twisted a gear in middle axle from stopping to sharp and it jumps out of high gear now not sure why but its been in mud,sand and snow never went in deep water only half up wheel its still going got to say best 100 pound iv spent

Hey man is the Wheel lengths between the axels front to back the same as the scx10 or close and and wide are the axels? I wonder if I can fit my custom 1/10 scale Black Phantom 2 RC trail truck body on this. I ordered the truck today and hoping I wont have to do any modification to the wheel base and frame.

it has shock hoops like axial has. axial sell a lift kit for there trucks about $10 online that'll fit here.

That Rig is really impressing me. One common complaint - weak servo! No big deal, easy to replace. Definitely better shocks. From what I'm seeing, what it needs most, is WEIGHT! Shocks, yes. But it will have much better articulation, if there was more mass, pressing the tires to the ground. An Axial or Vaterra weighs almost TWICE as much as this! It would definitely be better, if it gained a few pounds!! 😁 😉 Also, METAL frame rails would be my second or third mod..... Now, I'm not bashing it! It's a LOT of truck for the money! I think it would be great with a few mods, some more weight, and after all that is sorted, Wheels.... Sure, they're nice, and beadlocks are cool, but they're a Scale 30 inch rims! That's my only visual problem with it. I'd buy one!

what kind of battery was you using? the website says it's a lifi battery, 7.4v. wondering if it who run off a 7.2v NIMH?

I found it turns really slow, even in 4x4 setting. Any way to improve this? REduce the turning radius?

Has it differentials on front and rear axles? Locked or not?

One more thing..... Does it have a place to mount a winch.

Pitty they discontinued it. Great review though.

Does this thing have a separate reciever for the transmitter?
