I heard rumors that if you put it on a table it might float away. I also heard that they make a REALLY high pitched whine! (I couldn't resist. LOL) Great review! I have about 15 hard drives all loaded with HDTV and movies. Moving a Bears game around definitely takes some time. (about 28 GB) There is a place that does very long term reviews of hard drives. They study them for years, and the HGST ones come out much better than the rest for reliability. I DO wonder about helium leakage after five years though. Thank you! :-)

An ssd would have been much safer though

In terms of short term failure rate, yes- I could see that. But I have read that SSDs start to lose their grip on data after they have been unplugged for over a year. I know that will happen with a mechanical hard drive as well eventually, but the data will be more stable, longer, stored magnetically. I want to load this drive up and stick it in a drawer.
