I served in the Marine Corps during the era of white glove weapon inspections. We never completely tore down a gun to clean it. We separated the upper from the lower unit and washed the gun with Joy dishwashing liquid. Seldom did anyone fail an inspection. I have two Marlin 60's that are over 30 years old. Both have fired tens of thousands of rounds and seldom do the rifles malfunction. All I do is take the stock off the rifles and wash them. When they dry I spray them with the "best" lubricant of the day. I have a 995TS I treat the same way. Thousands of rounds later it is still chugging along without incident.
@bp6877 Жыл бұрын
Did you just use the dishwashing liquid standing alone, or did you use a solution of the liquid with water? Please pardon my ignorance.

I really appreciate this comment, as although this video was made to show the complete teardown, it makes me not want to buy the gun due to the complexity of this takedown. I don't think I would actually break it down to this extent. Brake cleaner and lube!!!

Bro! Your step by step was so helpful. I bought this gun and only put a couple hundred rounds in it. I put a red dot on it and was using a laser to line up the red dot. The laser bore sight got stuck in the barrel and I couldn't get it out. Your video helped me so much. I was intimidated taking this down because so many people said it is a pain in the ass . Your video got me out of a jam and taught me this was actually pretty easy take down. Thank you

Thanks for the video. Very informative. Decided to disassemble and clean before shooting the first time. Found the weapon very dirty. Appears to not have been cleaned well after manufactured and shot the first time. Also, manufacturing process was not well done. Found rough areas inside the slide. This manufactured defects don't seem to effect the operation, but not a good example of good production. One final thing, I tried to contact Longshot Mfg. three time by phone, left messages about a product I wanted to purchase, but, needed an answer about application. After two weeks, they never responded. Not a company I want to do business with!

Had our 995ts 3 months...broke it down twice before going to the range, the second time was easier...the instructions say to give it a good cleaning every 1500-2000 rounds, and all I've down is clean the bore (it drives me crazy not breaking it down more) after each range visit...having broke the gun down, I could see and feel the rough areas, and will be curious as to where the wear occurs...600 rounds fired so far, the trick is making sure the magazines are seated correctly (If the first round loads into chamber I'm going hot), and then the gun just runs and runs...some of the folks complaining about the 'complicated' breakdown need to suck it up, not every firearm is stupid-proof simple...

Just subscribed to your channel. As a complete newbie to handling / owning / using firearms ( having just moved to the States from England ) , I have recently purchased an older style Hi Point 995 9mm without the TS Stock - so a quick question , I'm aware that I can get a TS Stock from Hi Point , so how easy are they to fit onto my Carbine ? I've only put about 70 rounds through the Gun so far , so it's not definite that I'll find the need to actually replace it. Great channel , thanks for any advice 👍

Do they make a Barrel Shroud for the 19” Barrel that still allows use of a Barrel Break? I don’t see any mention of Barrel Length on any of the items and that’s very important for me since most people don’t buy the 19” Barrel because of the cost difference over the standard Barrel with the 995TS but I don’t want a barrel shroud if I can’t use a barrel break and the barrel shroud is not the entire length of the barrel up to the threads.
@patriot722 жыл бұрын
I will double check for you but I would assume because they make different lengths of shrouds it would come down to what length you would want and if you are keeping your front site on the rifle. I am going to be making another video on barrel shrouds and will explain it more in detail my friend. Thanks for the question.

What a nightmare to assemble/disassemble, Hi-Point really needs to find ways to make it easier. I know it probably will affect the cost but there should not be that much of a price adjustment. Their pistols are not this hard. For those who think I am just complaining about something I don't know, I have owned a Hi-Point 995 and loved it but I thought of this as the biggest disadvantage to owning this gun.
@patriot727 сағат бұрын
It’s definitely more detailed than other rifle platforms we have so I completely understand what you are saying Pappy. But the good news is that it’s doable. Thanks for watching and God bless you and yours In Jesus Name my friend!

Why remove the front sight?
@patriot72 Жыл бұрын
That’s a great question RJ. You can see around 8:15 in the video in order to take the barrel retainer ring completely off if someone were to choose, the sight would have to be removed. Or if someone would want to remove it for accessory purposes. The video is meant to demonstrate how to disassemble the rifle so I figure why not show how to remove it.
