A 6 day trip across the Idaho Panhandle with 5 different bike trails for you to ride. On this trip we ride the Route of the Hiawatha, the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes, and the Idaho Centennial Trail. I explore Spokane Washington, Coeur d'Alene, and the crazy little town of Wallace. I'll explain how the center of the universe came to be and so many moose!

When I rode from Coeur d'Alenes to Spokane and back, I didn't know about the Hiawawatha Trail. Oh, well. There's this Spring.

Great videos Jon! You really turned out a lot of content in the last two years. I just found your McCall mountain biking video when I was searching for what mountain biking was like in McCall. Anyway great videos.

I did the Hiawatha ride. We camped in St Regis. It is a ride everyone should do. It is historic, easy and beautiful.

This looks amazing. I would definitely wanna do the bike tour in Idaho after watching this video but I'm a solo rider and probably doing this on my own and in regular bike. You are creating amazing videos. Well done, thanks 👍

You could do it solo! The shuttle helps but you don't need it.

Do it! Fly into Spokane and rent a car. Hit Coeur d'Alene, Wallace and the Hiawatha.

You should walk the Idaho's Centennial Trail end-to-end I will warn you it's going to take you a few months to do it. But I guarantee you it would be the best hike you probably ever took in your life. The 1,311-mile Idaho Centennial Trail (ICT) weaves through the most scenic portions of Idaho’s wild country, from high desert canyonlands, ghost towns, open prairies, high Mountain altitudes through the Sawtooth mountain range to wet mountain forests in North Idaho. what won't you see? What want you discover?

Great video. Did the Hiawatha a few times up and down in boy scouts. Always a fun time. Our scoutmaster would blow one of those wooden train whistles while in the long tunnel at the top! =p

Never been there myself, but I have drove a Train fololwing the exact trail from Avery to Drexel in a simulation with accurate recreation, such a shame the rails were removed but at least the trestles and catenary poles remains as a sign of the glorious Milwaukee Road Railway and the engines that challenged the grades of the path
@JonConti
@JonConti 2 жыл бұрын
You should visit Wallace and ride the path. A lot of good history there. Along the bike path is a ton of signs and photos kind of a tour through the railroads history. I think you'd dig it.

@@JonConti I definetely will! If your curious about the Layout/Map of the Train Simulator that I used, its called Avery-Drexel, literally that 2km/1.2 mile long tunnel you went was faithfully recreated in the game.

It's the second longest tunnel in the rail to trail system. The longest is Snoqualmie pass, and if you haven't ridden that, you need to.
@JonConti
@JonConti 2 жыл бұрын
Damn! I blame our guides for that faulty information 😩I'll have to ride Snoqualmie and rectify this!
@matthewsinger
@matthewsinger 2 жыл бұрын
Interestingly enough, the Snoqualmie Tunnel is on the same historic rail line as the St. Paul Pass tunnel (Haiwatha Trail) and the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes. If the Palouse to Cascade trail ever gets completed, you'll be able to ride from the Seattle suburbs all the way into Montana.

riding thru those long, wet, cold tunnels, you might want to throw on a jacket covered by a plastic garbage bag.. you can get really wet and muddy when the tires kick up what's in the tunnel.. And have good batteries in your headlight to see where your going.. Bring a back up for the return trip..

Smelterville near Wallace is the real mining town where they have smelters to melt down iron ore.. My sister lived in Wallace before she and her family moved to Kellogg.. my only transportation is a Recumbent Etrike.. i would move near by area except i would not have transportation during the long winters with 4 feet of snow.
