One thing is kind of cool about Enigma as a name is that it goes well with Cypher’s return from a literal sense. The pairing of a code system and a code breaker is cool, and it was clear that Cypher was meant for something big early. There’s also the musical reference of the classical music Enigma variations including what are essentially different Moira-like lives for each movement. And one of those is titled Nimrod. With that music being believed to contain a hidden code (Enigma) pulling the strings all along, that’s kind of cool. I do agree that I don’t like the name for the reasons that you described, but the other stuff seems to make up for it.

Holy hell that theory about Sinister being the Doctor who visits Moira and makes her a mutant. 😮😮😮 That would be such an insane finish. Wow🎉

The first “You’re a ghost” scene appears to be what happens when Destiny talks to others about Enigma aloud. The black lines from the eyes would be the Dominion choking the life out of Sinister. This is why Destiny doesn’t tell Mystique. She alludes to telling people not going well in a recent issue. In the Karma Police sense, “This is what you get when you mess with us…” The next time it occurs, Destiny is reminded of it. This is the Ghost in the Machine that Essex later declares in the recent big Enigma reveal. Notably though, Hickman had classified at least one mutant as a Ghost in the original PoX, but I think that was a different direction that was never clarified (in one of the data pages outlining remaining mutants and their relationships).

I didnt read invasion (or really much of the original ultimates universe to begin with!) and I loved the first issue of spider-man so much. I felt like I wasn’t lost just jumping into a story in media res with lots of new stories happening that I don’t know about (but don’t really need to yknow)

I am SO GLAD I got to read Gillen’s Eternals while it was running. It got boring but I reread it as a whole and it is fantastic! I agree, he was won me over but that first Hickman USM reminded me of how grand of a net he cast. It always hypes me up with plot but Gillen really savors the best parts of the characters. Hoped we were seeing a new side of Hickman after the jaw dropping X-Men issue 4

My theory is that each issue of Ultimate Spider-Man is going to be jumping ahead a month with each issue. I can see this lasting the two years (22-24 issues). First month is set in during January. I can see the final issue of the Ultimate Spider-Man being set during the time when the City reopens unless in 6 months Peter joins the Ultimates.

55:35 - That theory blew my mind!!!😱🤯. I had take out my issue of House of X issue 2. It would be so cool if the theory were true. I enjoyed 'Destiny of X' though 'Sins of Sinister' left me a bit tired of Sinister. 1:02:11 - me too.

The first issue of Ultimate Spider-Man was truly incredible. Hickman does a great job at making a Peter Parker that feels both familiar and new. The interactions between Mary Jane, Jonah, and Ben were alsk really good. Marco Checchetto's art was absolutely amazing. He's always been my dream artist for Spider-Man and (even tho Spidey does fully appear here) he did a great job. I also loved Matt Wilson's colors. His colors did a great jib setting the mood, especially with the conversations witb Ben and Mary Jane towards the end of the issue. Overall, I loved this and I'm on board with thjs new run. As for how long this creative team will last, I would love to see Hickman and Checchetto do 50 issues but I think realistically it will be around 25-30 issues.

Then I have a bunch of Dynamite, Image, and Dark Horse comics to add to it, including Napalm Lullaby, Feral, Under-York, The CAbinet, Infernals, Spawn, King Spawn, Killadelphia, Moon Man, Nights ( a Curious option), Nights, Monstress, Walking Dead Deluxe, and Worldtr33. Also the current Calculus is excellent in introducing a strong spell within Ultimate Universe, very excited for the ultimate comics.

What if the title Immortal X-men is a reference to Essex and Charles and the Dominion. It’s hard to believe that the good guy Charles is good. It seems like he could actually be working for the AI or being its AI, especially since he’s wearing a Cerebro crown in an anti robot war. Also, the whole Sins of Sinister near Endpoint with Charles becoming that planetary and near dominion like presence. After all, killing Moira AFTER the Dominion is established seems to be the only way of ensuring that it can’t be unmade. Lastly, tiny crumbs, but what if Charles recent telekinetic powers (during the Krakoan era, starting with HoxPox) were from Sinister all along. Is Charles or Cerebro one of the storehouses or disciples of Enigma? He and Cerebro would be tremendous gains for an AI seeking to bring about a Dominion, and the recent conversations with him and spirit Sinister were odd. Also… he’s one of the only people to have a beard, so of course that picture of Engima is a picture of bearded Charles!

I wonder if iron lad will create all of these heroes only for them all in some way to turn on him somehow thus creating kang and then he goes back in time to stop the maker from causing him to create them all in the first place a la Ultimate Invasion

Relating to the list at the beginning for the biggest contenders… I feel like Zdarsky will be up there in a decade or two, easily. He’s set up for a huge success imo!!

not to say i want storytelling limited to what the architect originally designed, but i REALLY hope Gillen bounced these ideas off of Hickman... or, we wait another decade before Hickman returns to House of X and re-aligns the narrative he'd originally wanted to resume the first time around...

So that theory is that Moira isn’t a mutant since she was given her pwers by a Sinister? That’s dumb. It’d be fine to make it Sinister who cures her of a disease but him making her powered is lame. But then again Krakoan era ended up pretty lane in the end so maybe it would be fitting.

X lives was about killing Charles before being born and now his plan is to go back in time to kill Moira before she becomes a mutant 😭

Frankly if we keep it to five titles max I'd like for them to be Spider-man, X-Men, Black Panther, The Ultimates, and a supernatural title like ghost rider or strange.
