the thrill of the reload! I'd be lying if i said Metal Gear Solid didn't heavily influence which guns i like, especially MGS3. I never gave much thought to wheel guns and i really didn't give any thought to the Colt SAA until i played that game for the first time. It made me go back and take a closer look at the real M1911A1 that my great grandpa used during WWII and the wheel guns he left behind. He hated single actions with gate loading though, so he only ever got more modern double actions that you can load with a speed loader. i don't think he ever used a moon clip, but i have shot wheel guns that were set up for moon clips before, and its pretty awesome. Part of the reason why cowboy action shooting is so amazing is that you are forced to be so fast and accurate with these handicapped guns. its like watching the world's fastest sprinter cover himself in weights before running at the olympics, and he still wins

@Blonde Viper A sense of urgency caused by using an inferior and obsolete gun? I'm gonna pass on that. I also do not want to be holding back a potential fight-ending shot in the hopes of getting a better shot because I'm worried about running out of ammunition. A modern handgun is in every significant way superior to a revolver. That is a fact. I like revolvers. I own two. But if I am picking a practical gun, I will never choose a revolver over a modern handgun. Would you? Oh, and I practice plenty.

Here in Australia our Ripley SSAA Range has a large population of Kangaroos thriving there, whenever some of them hop onto the firing ranges all shooting has to stop. They're totally unafraid of people and the noise of Gun fire, its widely believed that most of them are deaf by now although well protected, maybe Hickocks Deer are the same LOL.

I have a Colt SAA with 5 1/2" barrel chambered in .38-40, make in 1904. I learned to shoot a handgun with that gun at age 11 and carried it for many years. In Jan 1973 it saved my life! In the early '90s I semi retired it and bought a new generation Colt SAA with 4 3/4" barrel in .45 colt! That has been my primary carry gun ever since. These guns are what I feel the most competent and proficient with. For me they they have a "pointability" I have never been able to duplicate with any other handgun. At any distance under 20 feet I don't have to use the sights. Came in handy in near darkness that Jan night.

I wonder if there are any records left that would show who that cavalry Colt was issued to? It might be interesting to know more about the history of that gun and how it got from being an army issue in 1883 to Hickok45's collection in 2022.
@anthonyiocca5683

Those records are called a “hand receipt”. The armorer maintains the “hand receipt”when the weapon is issued. Once the weapon is turned back into the armorer the “hand receipt” is given to the soldier filled out and dated as turned in. The armorer has the weapon, the soldier has the hand receipt proof he turned in the weapon. So unless the soldier kept that hand receipt as a keep sake is where it could be. Even today the U S Army doesn’t maintain a by name record of who was issued what and when. Since that weapon was in very good condition it may of not been issued much…

Arms laws here in India are so strict that 99% of us never in our lives get the opportunity to hold a firearm. First we need to acquire a gun license from the government, which is almost impossible to get unless we have contacts with politicians or high-level government officials.....

Mine would be a Great Western that was only made for a couple of years in the fifties in California. There was a shortage of Colt single actions due to all the TV Westerns and Great Western built guns until other manufacturers caught up. It is a clone of the Colt but it is important to me because it was left to me by my uncle who was like a father to me. We shot it a bit when I was a teenager and it was the first big bore pistol I ever shot.

I had owned Colt Single Action Nickel Plate made in 1905 in excellent condition. I like the guns but it might be illegal to owned in some "industrial country" !

Great choice. I only have one, so it's easy for me! SAA in .38-40, built in 1897.

Beautiful collection, I wish the Schofield would've made it a little farther than being one of the first to get tossed! I just got one with a 5 inch barrel, very excited to give her a spin next time I go home.

I leaned in toward the screen to get a better look at all those SAA pistols, and then realized I was drooling onto my laptop's keyboard. Had to stop the video for an extensive clean up, and then watched the rest . Thanks for posting.

That's a nice collection of beautiful SAA's! You could start your own museum! Think of that...opening a museum and charging admission. You could have a stream of revenue coming in. And what do I think you'd do with all that new-found money? Well, I'm bettin' that you'd buy yourself another fine Colt SAA! Makes sense to me!

Another outstanding video Hickok45! It is amazing that your "pet deer" seemed uninterested in the noise of your shooting . You should put that in a disclaimer at the end No Animals Were Harmed in the making of this video. Keep the videos coming.

I bought a 1873 Colt 45 replica. This was then the most dangerous handgun I had because I didn't know jack about it. After many self taught things like ejecting, loading and unloading that it is now the safest gun I have. And the gun is the most accurate on I have. I get every bullet in the red circle each time I use it.

Thought a moment before making a comment...but we all know about opinions...they are like, well here is mine. First generation black powder. Anyone of those old girls. Yes, always a full cleanup. But, as for me, worth every minute. Your presentation was brilliant.

Schofield is without question my favorite single action, it's the only handgun I'll use in Red Dead Redemption 2 and that brought me to buying a real one as well. I love the shape of the gun itself and the split top reload

I think that eliminating the schofield was a mistake because it is the only one that exposes the drum, making reloading faster.
