MrNorden1 thanks for input. I guess LED is king now. Used aftermarket HID may be better in some cases but LED original is probably better then original HID.

these lasted about 2 years before the light output became very weak.

Nou Jai Yang we chose the LED for this application because the HID kit we wanted needed a additional relay kit to run hi beams. LED was much simpler installation which my friend wanted. Unfortunately I apologize the title was a little misleading but I tried to explain benefits/ cons of HID / LED in the short segment of the video.

@@BulliKid I'm not sure which hid kit you were looking at, but you wouldn't need a relay kit to have the hi beam work lol. The high beam function on the projectors works off the projectors itself moving the cut off shield up and down. Nothing to do with the bulb itself.

@@oONoChanc3Oo Correct!! @BULLI KID The projector beams in the iM headlights make a clicking noise when switching from low to hi moving he cut-off out of the way and making it look like daylight in front of you. Also 5000kelvin is brighter than the 6500k. Sure the LED is more compact with no sign of modification due to no ballast but spend a little more time on the install and the 55w slim ballast kits can be hidden very well on the iM. The LED will have a shortened lifespan with no ventilation. A good 9012 LED bulb will be 2 sided with the small led chips specifically made for auto use, not "cree", not 4 sided chipped and definitely not those rounded types. The slimmest chipboard in between the 2 sides work the best, no messed up hot-spots or screwed up cut-off lines. The idea is to get the LED's as close to the filament in a halogen 9012. Not hating or anything, pretty decent video and upgrade for 35.00. Looked great against the white garage door. Although like you said, HID's been out for a while and LED's got a lot of room for perfection. Good job!

hwoarang2001 great observation. With the bulbs being to cheap we decided to just cap the light off Like it would be factory and see how long everything g works. So far no problems. The problem with removing the rubber cover is that water may get in that area and stay in the headlights and accumulate. Also dirt and bugs may make a new home there. I think the heat is minor and won’t cause the light to malfunction. No complains 2-3 months into owning them.

no problems, LED should For sure run Cooler then Halogen or HID. SO far no issues and the vent cap is closed. You can always poke a little hole in there so it has some more room to vent.

@@BulliKid Exactly, they are legal if it is from factory that has been tested without glare and endanger other drivers. If it DIY. Definitely illegal and punishable.

You are wrong. With projectors there is very little glare and it won’t cause an issue.

@@BulliKid Probably fine in USA, but with stringent requirement in Germany Highway Safety law, any modification need approval from their DMV. But you may be right, if it is just LED, it is just like replacing Edison bulb with LED at home. Not like HID with high voltage ballast and specific reflectors requirement. So, do you know which LED is safe, not too hot and do not destroy the housing? Do you know what actual brand TOYOTA ORIGINAL LED head light is? Thanks in advance

LED run cooler then halogen or HID so there should be no issues with heat in the housing. This set has been working great for over a year now.

Rob A yes I did! I’ll be honest, it’s so awesome. I can “blind” people and be okay with it because it’s on low beams. Not that, that was the goal but I can see! I got the Sealight brand from Amazon. It has both 9006 and 9005 in the box for $80 or so. But when I installed it, my daytime running lights were spazzy like strobe lights in the club, so I found a KZfaq video that can cut off the DRL. I didn’t want to buy a whole kit to fix it, so I just cut off the wire. As expected, the beam pattern also really bad, not wide enough, really bright indeed in the center but the side is too dim and cannot see when Deer come from the side of the road. I return it even after 6 months you can always fight it via Paypal.

@@BulliKid I think only HID replacement works well for projector beam because it required parabolic reflectors that will be focus and projected again by the projected lens. It may works for some reflector type headlight. What I learn, only 2 sided thin LED works that replicate the halogen dimension.

It can’t be the best for $35 but it had been working good. And with projectors there is no apparent glare.

We did not want to ruin the covers or have water come in the assembly. It’s been working no problem for almost a year.
