Reviving the old trail series that began with the 2004 TJ Rubicon. The Jeep Gladiator Mojave was not necessarily marketed for trails that involve traversing large boulders. Afterall, it does have a "Desert Rated" badge on it's side rather than the typical "Trail Rated" badge that other Jeeps have, such as the Gladiator and Wrangler Rubicon. But, with nothing more than an aftermarket front sway bar disconnect and a set of stock steel bumpers installed, I was able to traverse most of a moderately difficult trail known as "Wet & Wild" at the Hidden Falls Adventure Park off-road park near Marble Falls, Texas. This trail isn't what you would call a "desert trail" by any means. It was pretty much a mild to moderate rock garden for the majority of it's length and included several rock ledges, or "waterfalls", that earn this trail a 4 out of 5 rating. See how well, or not-so-well, the Mojave does on a trail that many would say it was not designed to conquer.

Love seeing another 6 speed out there. Went wheeling with a bunch of guys with autos who hardly had to work to get up obstacles. There's something gratifying about conquering trails in a manual trans.

I have yet to go to Hidden Falls. Mostly cause I figure it's best not to go alone but doesn't seem like my buddies are about off roading so might just go for the easier trails just to test out first. Seeing how yours did gives me more confidence. That one dude in the start was trying too hard to be cool in front of his friends hahah what an ass.

HF has trails of all types and difficulty levels. You can do anything from a nice scenic dirt road to buggy trails. I say just go but be mindful of the ratings. The staff is friendly and can assist with that. They also have park rangers and you’re never more than a mile or two from the main area. Been going there for years and love it. You can even primitive camp in designated areas but they fill up sometimes. Let me know if you ever want to check it out! And yeah, I was trying not to let that guy ruin my day. Lol!

@Motoring Adventures Will definitely check it out. Idea would be to camp elsewhere, considering how nice it's out there I bet there's more chill places. Do the hill country run and explore the area. Was just in Fredericksburg this weekend and stayed at an AB&B on the west section of it unfortunately didn't have more time to do it but this year for sure will go. I appreciate it, man!

@@SouthTXMojave You bet! Check out the Shaffer Bend Recreation Area. It’s just south of HF along the Colorado River. It actually has some nice trails as well.

what mapping program was that you were using? seems a bit easier to read than OnX with the base map instead of the sat map. thx.

In this video I was using Gaia GPS. I have subscriptions to both GAIA and On X but I use them differently. GAIA I use for recording tracks and navigating. And On X I mainly use to see their extensive land ownership layer and to see what trails have been logged for different areas and trip planning.

Going up steep hills do you just go easy with the throttle? I feel with my mojave when i go up steep hills already at an incline with my emergency brake engaged, i give it gas let go of the emergency brake i am forced to floor it which burns up the clutch a little.

Yeah the Mojave only has a 2.71:1 gear ratio in the transfer case which might not be most ideal in a lot of off-road situations. In particular, steep inclines unfortunately. The Rubicon's 4:1 transfer case would be more ideal in that scenario. They definitely geared the Mojave more towards high speed trails that are more level.

Yeah 😂. 2.72:1 is not ideal for rock crawling a Gladiator with a clutch.

Do you have help filming your wheeling footage or do you use a tri-pod?

Most of the time just a tripod.

@@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy DO you use Gaia or OnX? My OnX is expiring & I really like it but it's a tad expensive
@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy
@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy Жыл бұрын
@@maverick_jl I have both and to be honest, I use Gaia more. Making thing I like about OnX is the parcel data and looking up trails they have. I agree it is expensive.

Why did your JT turn on and off a few times while rock crawling? Was that just the auto start stop “feature”?
@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy
@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy Жыл бұрын
No, it wasn't the auto start/stop. This JT has a 6 speed manual transmission and I stalled it a few times during the video. It happens if the rpms drop too low and you don't put the clutch all the way in.

Is your Mojave really noisy on the suspension on cold days?
@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy
@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy Жыл бұрын
I do notice that the rear springs can be quite “noisy” when pushing down on the rear of the truck.
@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy
@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy Жыл бұрын
It’s not really dependent upon the temperature or weather though. Maybe a tad bit noisier on cold days.

@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy
@TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy Жыл бұрын
@@ramondelarosa5682 Does yours sound like it’s the rear suspension? If so, I was reading somethat it might be the tailgate strikers and how they are adjusted might not allow the tailgate to be closing tight enough. I messed around with mine a little but not too much. Just something to consider.

LoL That dude needs to calm down and stop acting like the king of the trail. Comes at you like a douch instead of a cool cat.
@yakitoriPB
@yakitoriPB 9 ай бұрын
But as a courtesy you shouldn't dust people out. He was being a douche but I hate it when people don't slow down when they see people on the side of the road and just stir up dust. It's kinda like running into a puddle of water and splashing someone. Kinda rude
