I can't believe I've never been here before 😳 I've lived in Tokyo for over 3 years now and I'm always desperate for a hidden spot to visit that is easy to get to but isn't packed with tourists...and this is definitely it 🥰
Thank you so much to the city of Fujinomiya, Shizuoka for inviting me out to participate in their taxi tour around town! Fujinomiya is easily accessible from Tokyo, just take the Kodama bullet train to Shin-Fuji Station about an hour away. If your reserve a taxi tour, you can hop in your reserved taxi and see the best spots of the city without having to plan or worry about making buses or anything (public transportation in rural areas can be difficult...) 🥸
Ngl I am getting tired of the typical Mt. Fuji spots...I went to Kawaguchiko recently and it was so packed with tourists that it was difficult to enjoy some spots. Fujinomiya really is still a hidden destination, and all the content you see in this video was filmed on a Sunday!! I really didn't try to not get people in the shots or anything by the way, this is just how it is 😇 Amazing!!
Even without this being sponsored I would say that taxi tours are definitely the best way to see rural Japan! I've said a lot that cars are the best way to see rural Japan, but driving here can be stressful if you don't know Japanese and it's easy to take a wrong turn. Taxi tours have the route planned in advance (and you can make requests!) and you will have a local taking you to the best spots 💛

have you seen mt. fuji before!? it's a quintessential ~Japan~ spot but the most popular destinations are seriously overflowing with tourists so this is an amazing solution for people who want to skip the crowds and see a new place ❤❤

Shizuoka prefecture has so many amazing Fujisan viewpoints. I think most tourists tend to visit Yamanashi which is also great, but Shizuoka is awesome because of the lack of crowds. It really is a hidden gem. In some ways I hope it stays like that, but they also deserve the recognition.

Hi Allison, Mount Fuji really is so majestic, I love the camera shots of the clouds circling around the middle. I’ve mentioned this before but I’ve always loved the way the Japanese merge water and nature together. Great to see that this is only an hour away and seems straightforward to get to as well. Very nice video! I definitely also recommend Hakone and Odawara, they are a bit more well known but still not incredibly crowded (I was there in August of this year) and especially Lake Ashi is lovely. If you're lucky (which I was not), you can even see Mt. Fuji from the very relaxing sightseeing cruise! Also pro tip: the Taito Station arcade which is 5 mins away from Odawara Station has claw machines which are less rigged than the bigger arcades in Tokyo or Kyoto, personally with a bit of help from the employees and luck I was able to bring back a full suitcase of plushies :)

"girl dinner" 🤣 When I was in Japan we drove up near the summit and I had Fuji San shaped melon bread that was still warm and soooooo good. And I sent a postcard to myself from the post office there. It was so pretty. Our tour guide said that Mt. Fuji is really hard to see in summer and she had prepared postcards with pics of Mt. Fuji on it for us, but when we were there the skies completely cleared and we had a picture perfect view for the 40 min or so that we were at the summit. It was amazing!

Ok first I thought ugh YT click bait is disgusting. Fujinomiya and no one knows? It's like the most famous photo spot of Fuji. You didn't go there lol I honestly didn't know about most of this ^^;;; I lived at the base of Fuji in Gotemba for a year and every video I watch with her just makes me miss seeing her some mornings or walking the hall of the school I worked at. I played red rover with my 4th graders with her in the background... I miss the shy girl so much!! Great video Allison!

Informative video! I would never have considered taxi tour. Is there a website I can look for that? I'll be going to Jpn in Jan and bringing an older relative with us, so that is probably the best to use for transportation.

Visiting Fujinomiya and Fuji City is on my to-do list. This area is south of Mt. Fuji and if I want to have a photo of a sunlit mountain, I have to be on this side. It also helps that Yuru Camp has scenes around here and the Izu Peninsula to visit too.

Hi Allison! So sad, we just got back from Tokyo and are only seeing this now!! It looks wonderful, we’ve visited Yamanashi in winter earlier in Jan this year and Fuji-san was utterly majestic, we were lucky it wasn’t too crowded! Wish we could’ve also seen Fujinomiya this autumn! May I ask for Fujinomiya- are there other package options for the taxi tour if you have a set budget ? Thank you so much!

Hello Allison, I’ve watched this video many times!!! I’d love to do this exact itinerary!! I keep going to your suggested link hoping the taxi company’s website will be in English-- to no avail. Between 20,000ish and 40,000ish depending on time (4/6 hours) and size of taxi (normal or van)! I think it's a good price if you are a family or split it as a group 🤗

@@AllisoninTokyo That's a good price. I paid 8000 for a one hour taxi tour on Mount Rokko in Kobe. The driver took me to the observation decks for the famous night views.
