When you showed the lamp shade for the floor lamp I thought "oh that's too bad it's dirty". But then you put the shade in the fixture and I thought "who the hell cares if it's dirty....that thing is gorgeous"!!! WANT!

That floor lamp compliments the house so beautifully! The lines, the curves, and the contrast of the shade with the iron details are just gorgeous! If you need a new lamp shade, I would check out Practical Props in NoHo. Their lighting department is amazing and they have so many replacement shades. I would get an exact replica with the piping just cause it's soooo perfect!

OML....Arvin....that lampshade: paint it!!!!! tape off the dark top and bottom edge....and paint it! On the other side of the moon....love those "mushroom lamps"! They are incredible.............great score

Wow, great lamps! They’ve got a real Art Deco feel as well, with the shape of the base. It’s like 60s meets 30s, I love it. Also, check out the Long Beach flea market, that’s less big and well known than the Rose Bowl, but it’s supposed to also have great stuff.

It's really comforting to see you surprised at the prices here. You have inspiring taste and are able to find pieces that match both your budget and style in any city, but in your last location prices were definitely lower. I experience sticker shock when I walk into vintage shops here (like "Stuff" in San Francisco, for example) and feel comforted by your looking out for your savings. Before you toss that lamp shade if it's a paper shade try a silicone (white) eraser. If it's plastic covered by fabric or just fabric, try a mild Dawn solution with a soft new toothbrush. Rinse with clear cool water. You can do it in your bathtub. Let dry in the sun.

Love the standing lamp, think you may need to seal the paint to keep the next shade from getting dirty too. It will take a bit of time but think you will find great people who can do the custom work for you, ask at the very expensive shops you visited!

Someone else may have commented but...re: the floor lamp. The black stain is probably from the metal, you just had it upsde down. Turn it the other way and it will hide behind the metal band. Love that house and am quite envious that you found it! Happy for you though.

As soon as I saw the Capiz screen I was like ohhh Philippines! Also for the stained lamp shade, what worked for me was washing mine and giving it a light scrub with laundry detergent. And after rinsing it, I used an upholstery cleaner to suck up all the water and let it sun dry.

Love the lamps! I always am curious for antiques but seeing price tags always makes me back down. I cannot justify some prices. I find that Four Hands has a lot of the “antique” feel with a more affordable price.

Hi Arvin. You could buy the matching dresser of your end tables for your TV console and use it in another room if it's long enough. It would be a way to tie the rooms together. There's storage for remotes, wires will be hidden, etc. Just a thought. Enjoy making your house a home!🙂

What great finds! Love the pair of lamps you scored on etsy, and the french lamp was amazing! I used t walk at my lunchtime to the Pasadena Antique Center. Tip: most dealers are willing to negotiate. The front desk will contact the dealer for you if he/she isn't in (sometimes if the dealer is in, the discounts are better or offer cash...) And Huntington Collection recently located to Colorado Blvd. Check them out, a good consignment store, proceeds benefit the Huntington Hospital. Happy antique hunting!
