That's a little bit of mud covering would not have been enough to completely hide up his body heat he would at least have been partially visible to infra red 😅

I always figured it was his visor filtering and processing its vision. Like it's set up to highlight the humans with a high level of contrast, the mud lowered his apparent heat signature enough to be filtered out. We see when it takes off its helmet, its vision is entirely redded out, with Arnie disappearing at a distance. Just had always been my conclusion.

A little bit !? It's a thick pile of volcanic sticky mf from the middle of the earth . Arnie was healed in the whole process of hide and seek. His rheumatism and arthritis was an instant history

I wonder what will the outcome of the final battle if the Predator can really see you even when in mud and he just ignored Dutch in this scene. The movie will end Dutch being a big idiot.
