It's fun to unpack (many but not all) High-End stereo-things because they're "So Much More" than just ordinary stuff. My biggest "WOW-Surprise" I got wasn't from a true High-End thing but my Oppo BDP-95 gave me my most "WOW-Feeling" I've ever got.

Good little review! I learned some things. Still trying to decide buying a used pair of 802 D3's ($13k) or a new pair of 803 D4's ($22k).

Thanks for sharing this! Just a small feedback. You really need to work on the focus of the video recording. When you have a focal size that you use ok the camera you're filming with, the focal depth gets really really small. Either you need to stabilize the camera or simply put it on a stand and move the objects instead. Really hard to watch otherwise. Thanks again for all the great material you share here on KZfaq.

I’ve heard both. I prefer the d3. Direct comparison with 805 d3 and 805 d4. Sound wise both are good but I think they are too close for the difference in price. I’m also not a fan of the leather on the speaker. It does make you wonder how long the longevity of that material last throughout the lifetime of the speaker what kind of potential discoloration cracking etc.

They both sound very different. You'd have to hear them to make that choice. Looks wise I'd go for these.

I don't understand the race to the bottom. Surely a sub can do a better job leaving the mains to concentrate on a more condensed range and perhaps doing a better job of it at the same time. And as you say, the 16 hz figure might not be realistic anyway.

@@Roof_Pizza I like the sub to be dedicated to the discrete LFE channel and not have to worry about the low frequencies of ALL of the other speakers on top of that. Nothing screams "consumer home theater" like having the sub worry about all of the low end. If it's a 2 channel setup, then I'd prefer 1 sub for each channel. Those who say bass isn't directional must have bad ears or something.

I don’t like the three separate grills. I think the oval grill and one circular grill looked better. Many people think they like the new look but what they like is change. Change just for the sake of change isn’t a good thing.

Omg what did you guys do? Ruined the speakers from the start. Those speakers lines must be transferred upright you must not lay them down. Bowers specifically told the dealer when I was picking them up with my cargo van not to load them laid down otherwise they would void the warranty.
