Your ex shouldn't have to give you this information. Schools/teachers generally inform parents of these events in group emails. It is your responsibility to get added to these lists rather than expecting someone else to reach out to you. Call the school and ask to be included in these email blasts. If you're an ex, they aren't going to want to do caretaking of you.

@Twinkie That's good direction. As the parent asking to receive information and explaining there are communication barriers, I've still experienced an entire year of a teacher not taking these measures. It was like she was so ideal she couldn't understand why we were asking for two sets of papers and multiples emails. It put the kid in a tricky spot once or twice and we missed tons of information along the way. Most teachers/schools are helpful, but not all- they aren't part of the court orders unless they're specifically included, unfortunately.

@@bumblinagirl2683 I get what you are saying to some degree. I know I have to attend parent teacher events with my ex- or refuse to attend, which sometimes I have to do if he is being extra triggering. I have had CPS tell me I have to fix him. There are all sorts of people who disrespect the reason we left someone in the first place- I get that. As for school concerts, etc, that should be available on some sort of other format. At least you can take that contact off the table. Right now, I'm dealing with an ex who pretends he doesn't have information and tried to contact me over and over again for the same information. My reply to him is always to get on the school's mailing list because it isn't my responsibility to be his secretary. I know it sounds harsh, but when you have an adversarial relationship, it is better to do it for yourself
