I went to a plein air exhibit at our local museum yesterday and was gobsmacked at how DARK those paintings were. I would say they were mid-range and below. Even the blue skies were dark. Must be a phenomenon of working outside in bright light as compared to painting from a brightly lit monitor indoors. Interesting. Thanks for your videos! Your seascapes are lovely. Love the soft colors.

A feature film at just 13:32 Sanded down and painting over a few Breaking waves provide drama and chaos Eschews a straight line as they betray us Saturated color, so spontaneous Random motion, maybe miscellaneous Patreon has many more videos Best way to stay creative, study shows 🌊 Whoa! I love both of these. The second one is spectacular. Thanks for sharing! Peace and love..Suz What ☮️💛

You're great in seascape painting very fast ,accurate in tonal values, good and simple but powerful composition to find the best angle in making painting on the spot. Thank you i will try to apply your technique in making the Taal Lake landscape painting here in Tagaytay City Philippines enjoy too!

Really enjoyed the energy you were able to put into the painting. Focusing on the power of waves is a great subject and, i think, suits your style of painting. I tend to paint to 12x16 in panel so agree on size of painting. I wouldn't go away from the wave subject as i think you could undertake a series of paintings depicting the strength of the sea. its an interesting area of your work that i think you should develop. Brilliant as ever.

Great do over! Really inspiring, you also had a key mindset during this, not overthinking, making it quick and spontaneous, the whole jist. Good job Michael! A video I’d like to see is some type of evening, dark, nightime plien air. It would definitely be a challenge but you could nail it

@@chamberlainpaintings ( pssst michael, please forgive me butting in , You did some evening paintings, I think, wasn’t one “” Alcatraz “” an evening, ( night ) composition, and YOU , i think, did a “” corner cafe “” that was an evening painting composition, ( trying to remember) although there may have not been an on site video, seems like I seen you do the Alcatraz composition though, both are spectacular ( I’ll search through your paintings) , ( nite vid and painting my vote is “” yes””🤐🙂

Very nice paintings, sir! Really nice ocean also! The first one seems to me a little bit more abstract. Btw. I was thinking, it would be cool if Mona Lisa was, in fact, a painting painted over some old painting! lol ... Have a wonderful day! Greetings from the EU!

I love that you reuse older panels. I’m wondering if you have a method of sanding the old panels that prevents dust from heavy metals like cadmium from landing on surfaces inside or outside.
@chamberlainpaintings

I only do a light sanding (outside). I wear a dusk mask but there isn't much visible dust.

Hey Michael! Love the subtle cool and warm contrast in this painting. For such a wild subject, it actually looks soft and kind of peaceful. I miss the energy in the first one that you have in the second one. The close values remind me of tonalist painters. I’m thinking of the ones that go the other direction, in darker values. Have you tried that before?
@chamberlainpaintings
@chamberlainpaintings Жыл бұрын
Thanks Miriam! I prefer the second painting as well. I haven't tried just using darker values. I'm not really a fan of dark paintings but maybe I'll give it a try sometime!

Great fast moving intense vid Michael, you seemed to be painting to the soundtrack of the ocean and being very loose mentally. Pity you lost all of the underpainting but I guess that look isn't your thing. Loved the random brushstrokes on the second one. Very inspiring stuff to watch and great commentary re your colour mixing. Good one!
@chamberlainpaintings
@chamberlainpaintings Жыл бұрын
Thanks Jim! Do you mean l lost all of the painting I was painting over? I did leave bits of the old painting visible here and there. They integrate so well into the painting that you can't tell unless you look up close. I made sure to cover any spots that were darker than a mid tone.
