Toyota are awesome. I have 327,000 miles on my 2003 Toyota Camry. 😎😎👍👍Brought the car used at 240,000 miles. Toyota quality and reliability. I had to replace the starter, the battery, the dog bone motor mount, and the radiator.

I have a 2017 Toyota Camry which is the same mechanically as the 2011. 2011-2017 Camrys are known to be one of the most reliable Camrys on the market, some of the early years had torque converter problems but most of those were fixed under warranty
@hayden93
@hayden93 Жыл бұрын
2010-2017 Camrys are great cars, as long as they were maintained, if the owner was negligent and never did their services it will burn oil and if extreme enough require major engine work to repair. Watch out for that, otherwise can go 400k

Just bought a 2010, manual, with 220k miles. I EXPECT it to go another 150k, easy. I have owned about 50 used cars over 30 years, 5 of them Toyotas. None of the Toyotas EVER BROKE DOWN. Not once. My current 2001 Corolla has 350k miles on it, and has burned oil since I bought it, 100k miles ago. I just add oil every time I fill it up. Never a problem. Still burns a quart every 500 miles, like when I bought it. Who knows what the original owner did to get it to that stage.... If something is going bad on a Toyota, like an alternator, which I replaced recently for $70, it warns you a month before the thing stops running. If I have the same issue on my Audi A4 I have 10 minutes MAX from the moment the battery light comes on. After that, the car is dead.

My 2017 has 60k miles and unfortunately had a leak in the timing cover. Replaced under my extended warranty. I also do 5k mile oil changes. When the valve cover was off, I had the dealer take a picture of the engine and it looks almost brand new. I use pennzoil ultra platinum 0w20 for my oil and make my car feel so good. I hope my car will last as long as yours. And I also follow the car care nut channel. And he is a toyota master mechanic, so he knows his stuff.

The Highlander, I purchased it on August 2022 from a dealer. The previous owner put a lot of miles on it, 138k. I don’t use it too much because compared to my other cars, it’s a gas-hog. I’m waiting for the weather to get hotter to work on it. The previous owner did nothing to it, not maintenance what so ever. I guess oil change only, it event had the original engine air filter. I just bought an 07 SE, same color as yours. 172k for $2000. It's my 8th Toyota. Certain issues with this generation Camry is the sticky or melting dash and oil cunsumption issues. Also, if your heater core is bad, you have to remove the entire dash and core support to get to it. Most toyota valve cover gaskets will need replaced also when you get over 100k. It's all about basic maintenance.

My sister had a 07 corolla that had a fire start from under the dash. She was in the drive thru at mcdonalds and all the sudden smoke started coming from the dash, she quickly got out and 5 seconds later flames were shooting up through the dash. The whole front end ended up burning right in the middle of the drive through. Insurance gave her $5k and she only had 80k miles on it.

I just put an engine in my sister's '11 Camry. It got overheated to 300deg and developed a compression leak. It was more economical to replace the engine instead of attempt repair. 160k miles on it now. Also did the trans oil, installed Transgo shift kit(WELL worth it - significant improvement in function), and cleaned out the trans while apart. I hope it makes it to your mileage for her.

Average mileage for one of those. Seen many with far more. One for sale near me with 625000, ex Taxi. As long as servicing is kept up every 15000kms ( roughly 9250 miles) as per Toyota requirements they will go for decades. Trans fluid recommendation is every 90000kms. Good job keeping it looking nice and going strong! If people want reliability get a Camry! 👌

@@motleydude73 dipstick color doesn’t matter once you see the oil as a whole and how black and dirty it is even with 5k miles, oil is still cheap and worth changing since the extra you save is minuscule and if it gives your car more life it well exceeds the worth of that extra expense. And most professionals will tell you 5k miles so I would follow there instructions.

@@hayden93 Throwing away perfectly good oil. 'Experts' are often just snake oil salesmen. Toyota bench test these engines for hundreds of thousands of miles they know what service intervals are appropriate. Dark oil isn't neccesarily bad, it means the detergents are doing their job. Mine must just be a very clean engine. Unless you're only doing 5k over a few years it ain't worth changing that soon. They can run to 10k intervals and still be fine for many decades. But each to their own.
@njsongwriter

@@motleydude73 I agree with you that 10,000 mile oil change intervals or once a year is likely fine if you're driving 90% highway miles. But now that I'm retired, I find us making more frequent short trips of five miles or less. For us it's best to stick with a 5,000 mile change interval for that reason alone.

Have a 2011 Camry XLE I just bought a few months ago. When it got down to zero with the last cold snap I would push the button to start, all lights lit up but it would just click. Toyota put in new starter and I had just put in a brand new battery week before. That night after a new starter was installed, temp was 5 above and it did the same thing. So 2 Toyota dealers have looked at it and sent it home with no resolution. Everything checks out except they need to see it do this for days in a row to narrow it down but could be expensive replacing part of the unknown. I replaced the new after market starter with another new one this time Toyota, replaced the brand new battery with another one and replaced the key fob with a new one. So far no issues starting but.. the coldest its been was 19 since the last ordeal. I have had Corollas for years and ran them to 300K plus with no issues and thought I would upgrade to a camry this time and I get this issue which is frustrating. Any suggestions or recommend anybody that may know?

Our Toyota is a 2009 RAV4 with the same AR-FE engine as yours but we only have 79,800 miles on it. I also change the oil myself every 5,000 miles give or take 300 miles. However, ours had a Toyota rebuilt transmission put in at 64,614 miles. Must have been a defect in the original for it to fail at those miles. Then again we are not the original owners. Ours uses zero oil between changes. Only thing we've done besides oil changes & tires is front brake pads, spark plugs, new air filters annually & cleaned the mass ail flow sensor and battery terminals. Rear brake pads will likely need to be replaced this year. Oh, almost forgot, I also replaced both oxygen sensors. Overall mpg is 29. We use only ethanol-free gasoline and add Lucas fuel treatment often to maintain clean injectors.

I suggest you to buy a little spray-cleaner can, (for maf sensors) and to clean it after such mileage (such spray shouldn’t cost you much). You can use it also for your other high-mileage cars in the future. I have a question for you. I’m going to change my coolant fluid as it was changed last time about 5 years ago and I’m wondering if it’s make sense to replace also coolant thermostat? You think it can be good idea or just it will be overkill? Sorry for my bad english - I’m not native speaker.

Hello, great video! I have 2010 SE and your engine bay looks very similar to mine -- looks rusty. Compared to other vehicles, do you think that amount is excessive? Happen to have any exposure to water? Would it create problems because of rust, or be possible to clean them? Thanks and have a very lovely week ahead.

Congrats on your car's durability. You must drive to different states on a regular basis in order to amass so many miles. Now comes the question: is it really worth your time to drive so much? Perhaps it makes sense to relocate to a walkable community instead where you can afford to walk more instead of relying on a car?

NO, the 2007-2009 2.4L 2AZFE burns oil IF you have not had the extended service campaign done to fix the rings. In 2010, they started using a new 2.5L 2ARFE engine that this car in the video has. No problems with excess oil burning.

I've always heard not to change the transmission fluid after reaching a high mileage; you changed it 200K-250K with no problems, right? I have the same car & engine with 190K. Transmission is fine except when cold/during warmup with just a little bit of vibration, then disappears. Really want to change the fluid but have been so reluctant. Looking for solid replies...safe to do so? Many thanks-
