I LOVE your energy in this reaction! I also adore Olivia Rodrigo, she is extremely talented and this show was the key for her rise to fame in the music industry. Here’s the tea: Olivia and Joshua Basset (Ricky) started dating while finishing the first season but sadly they broke up. Olivia wrote Drivers License about him teaching her how to drive because he is older than her and it immediately blew up to the top of the charts.

i think why wondering (nini and ashlyn duet) was really touching was that they sang that song live for the show so it wasnt lip synced like the other songs. it felt so genuine and so touching because of that additional detail.

I think Ricky was just freaked out by the I love you which is fine. And I also don’t think because someone says they love you, you have to know that you love them exactly at that moment. So I don’t think he did anything wrong at all, I think he just didn’t know how to process what was going on and probably love itself. But she moved on as well during camp and that’s cool too. Guys LEMONADE MOUTH pleaseeee😭😭, I’ve been writing comments in the past videos about it. You will LOVE. And it’s just one movie, no sequel or anything else apart from it but it’s SO GOOD

I agree. I actually think Nini is the one in the wrong. He just wasn’t ready to say it, but she got mad at him like he HAD to say it back. This has always been my pet peeve when i watched hstmts. I would rather have someone not say it back than someone saying it back just because they have to and not actually mean it. I think i love you should be said in someone’s own time, when they are ready and could sincerely say it.

i never realized how trippy the plot of this show is. before this show, everyone saw the high school musical characters as "real people" instead of characters making a movie. but in the show, the characters see the high school musical movie as an actual movie lol idk how to explain it

if i remember correctly. joshua bassett(ricky) actually got the role of ricky by doing something similar to the first episode. the orignal pilot had ricky writing a song for nini(olivia) for homecoming dance. Joshua told them he actually did something like that in real life. and he perfomed his original song which they loved and it got him the role. (and ironic the guy who plays EJ was also auditioning for "ricky") The actual audition of this happening is also uploaded online which is cool haha

when I tell you EVERYONE was shocked about how fun this show was 😂 we were clowning this show sooo much on twitter back then! did you know this was the first original disney+ show? even before marvel and star wars! so it had a lot of expectations and we were all pleasantly surprised. i’m so glad i watched it because i got to see olivia grow as a singer from the start. it’s so rewarding like i can’t wait to tell my children that i’ve been her fan since this show.

Not sure if you guys noticed this but unlike the films, they actually let the actors sing live on camera rather than lip synching over a prerecorded track. It really lends to the grounded and relatable nature of the show.

53:58 actually, when Olivia did HSMTMTS, she had just finished her lead role in Bizaardvark that aired in Disney channel. She was a Disney actor her entire teenage years and was homeschooled. The actors who play Ricky and Gina also had supporting roles in previous Disney channel shows before doing HSMTMTS. But yeah i think the rest are new.

most of the cast memeber were simply theatre kids with little to none hollywood background. one of my favourite things about this show is how much screentime/attention/appreciation they give to the background dancers as real characters/students. like most to all have character names and actual dialogues and interactions with the main cast.

I wonder how many people have realized that the entire album was filled with blatant and disrespectful lies. It was SO BAD that when it was presented to her recording company, Hollywood Records, they made it very clear that if she released this type of music she would no longer be working with them or any affiliated companies. (It is unethical to attack a person under the age of 21, publicly, in multiple songs, and to do so with MULTIPLE Inaccuracies). There are MULTIPLE reasons she was removed from this show, my cousin was the show-runner. DISNEY would never re-write ANY TV role for a music career they are not in control of. Disney owns Hollywood Records. THE MOMENT she released the set of songs, that they knew were filled with lies and deceit- Disney took it as a hit attempt on one of their employees. It takes a lot for Disney to NOT LIKE YOU. I can genuinely say the ONLY PERSON defending Olivia was the guy she ripped apart. He was, and always will be more mature about what occurred between the two of them. He also has been able to forgive, which truly makes him a saint. He also is THE singular reason that she was not IMMEDIATELY written off of the show, my cousin has told me MULTIPLE TIMES he was offered a safe space and his response was always, “I’m here with my friends, they have my back. I’ll be good.”

It’s really good at fleshing out characters and relationships with great music, plus it’s really meta and they don’t hide from it. One of the things I love about this show is that everyone gets a chance to shine. I love the HSM movies, but they really ignored the side characters a lot. In this, I would argue that Ashlyn (the cousin) is one of the strongest singers in the show.

I love this show! I was definitely hesitant to check it out at first but it’s really good. The original songs are great as well and everyone is really talented!
