I'll try! :) I count the practicals as exam grades (or it's a percentage of an exam grade). The one that I had set up (briefly shown in this video) was a simple measurement practical to ensure students were making measurements based on the precision of the instrument. I try to do at least one practical per grading period. Thanks for watching, commenting, and the suggestion!

Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to tell you. This building and all of the furniture with it is almost 10yrs old. There aren't labels on the tables that indicate where they came from.

Rug section with a low table (the trapezoid table I showed), a raised table area with bar stools (I showed two of those). I am currently debating the medicine balls; however, students seemed interested in bean bags so I might try those as well.

Which poster? The Instagram one? Or the science themed posters? If the latter, I had my 8x10s blown up into posters (I still had the 8x10s - they were on top of the cabinets). I purchased these a few years ago. The IG poster I purchased off of TpT (see description).

I would say that I have high expectations while at the same time supporting students to ensure their success in my class. Chemistry is already a difficult subject for many students. I'm not out to make the course more challenging than it already is. I explain how I grade and show students exemplars of work, so they understand what is expected. I also would like for students to master to topics we are covering since the course topics build upon one another; so I provide opportunities for quiz retakes(not exams) or revision of other assignments for full credit. I also make myself available for help before/after school and during lunch for the entire week (although, I am the only PreAP chemistry teacher). I suppose I'm a "hard teacher" if I hold students accountable for actually doing the work - either by speaking to them outside of class or assigning detention to ensure they at least attempt the work.
