@@OKG2000 Yes, but the ALL-IN doesn't even add up TBH. When you get raised with AA OR KK on a board like that you should slow down thinking SET, not go all-in and if you have a set, you sure don't go all in, so Ivey put him on AK or 88 JJ type hands, and he beats most of those hands, and JJ like AA or KK probably slows down there. Also, there is not a flush draw on that rainbow flop. No jam made sense there TBH.

@IAmPez
@IAmPez Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately they had him on a such a tight leash though, he was so safe and toeing the line, that it ended up making it hard to listen to by the end. It was Norm's voice, but it really wasn't Norm at all. It was more like someone reading a cookie-cutter script in a Norm impression. They had a such a goldmine fall into their hands and they completely wasted the opportunity by neutering him like they did. I honestly don't know why they even went to Norm in the first place if they were not going to allow him to be even slightly himself. The commentary went downhill rapidly when they split the Gabe/AJ dynamic and, unfortunately, it kills me to say it, but it went even further downhill when they brought in Norm to do it. He honestly could have saved the entire show if they just let him be Norm. Instead, it died immediately after.

Hellmuth: want to run it 3 times? Ivey: Uhh, no. Mercier: i only have ace high, wanna run it twice? Ivey: naa im only running it once Thats why i love Ivey. I never understood why people so far ahead would run it multiple times. Why give the underdog that many more chances to hit? Is it just to keep it friendly or something? Surely it cant be because of variance.
@jackbrady9738
@jackbrady9738 2 жыл бұрын
Bro it's literally the same % whether they're super ahead or super behind, 87% is 87%. By running it twice you are halving the amount of variance i.e halving the amount of hands you have to play to "realise" your expected value
@mydogniko
@mydogniko 2 жыл бұрын
@@jackbrady9738 i just read an article that says whether you run it once, twice or ten times your odds stay the same. It said running it twice is like playing the one hand today and running into the exact situation tomorrow. So it seems youre correct. My question is how/why? I cant remember the hands and dont want to go back through the video so ill just use this as an example. Say Player 1 flops a flush draw and gets it all in. Player 2 calls. They decide to run it twice. Player 1 obviously has the 9 outs to hit his flush and win. He bricks the first board. Would his odds of hitting a flush on the second board not go up bc he has those same 9 outs with 4 less cards in the deck? I dont see how that can be the same as playing the hand today and again tomorrow bc the underdogs odds to hit his flush go up on the second board. Right? Im generally curious on why this isnt the case so if you have the time could you explain it? Because in my mind running it twice always gave the underdog better odds to win bc he has the same outs with less cards in the deck.
@jackbrady9738
@jackbrady9738 2 жыл бұрын
@@mydogniko i never thought about that. say it came the opposite however, and the flush hit 2 of their cards. when they run it the second time they only have 7 of their outs remaining. so i think it evens out- im not sure though, you may be right. great thinking
@mydogniko
@mydogniko 2 жыл бұрын
@@jackbrady9738 youre point is valid. Thats why when its a flip or 60-40 i can see running it twice. But i always thought people did it for 2 main reasons. 1- to keep it more friendly. Most of these guys are friends and losing large pots suck and 2- so if the person ahead does lose on the first draw, variance says he should win on the second draw and they chop. Its a way to ensure getting sucked out on doesnt screw you over. However, my point is dont you want to get it in as a 4:1 favorite? If you lose you lose but why give the dog a second or 3rd chance to chop, when each time running it betters his chances? Thats how ive always seen it. All that being said youve seen the video where hellmuth runs it 4 times against the amateur guy that doesnt play well right? Cant remember his name. Hellmuth lost 3 out of 4 when the guy had like 5 outs total or something crazy. One of my favorite videos bc everyone just eats into Phil lol. Edit: Hellmuth vs Ernest Wiggins is the clip i was referring to. Just popped up in the YT algorithm.

@@mydogniko I'll give you an example. Let's say we're betting on dice, and it's impossible for the die to land on the same side more than once. If you need it to land on a 6, and I say we roll it 6 times, that means I'm guaranteed to win 5/6, and you'll win once. If we only roll once, you could win and although you're a giant underdog.

It had nothing to do with being generous. Chan didn't want the variance risk of Boneta getting lucky on him. Then after offering to go twice he realized that if he just went 3 times, he could pretty much bank a 90k profit minimum everytime, as Boneta will never get 2/3. He'll still usually win it all, but this way he guarantees himself a big profit on the hand.

I remember the Hellmuth Ivey hand from years back. Hellmuth was on massive tilt from the hands before. I think he was down $50k or something after 3 hands with AJ or better. No way anyone gets away from a Jack high flush draw and open ended straight draw on that board, in that kind of mood, after raising pre-flop. The Rolex hand is a hilarious classic. Vintage Chan.
