Alrightttt randi… MAJOR #HighSteaksReview time @Lennys_Steakhouse (Larchmont, NY).
This is the first time a steakhouse has ever reached out and ask that I do a review on them. Did they comp the steak? I got under 200 followers, they better not have.
But we do not do this for “followers” we do it for appreciation and respect for #SteakCulture.
I’ll be honest I was slightly nervous that the personal invite would throw me off my game. However, I quickly pulled myself together and locked the fuck in. Which, upon further review was shown in how I looked in the white “High Steaks” Shirt. Pretty damn good. Tight. But pretty damn good.
As for the steak. Really good stuff. Better than I expected tbh. I thought this would be one of the places that would have zero clue how to cook a rare steak but they really almost nailed it.
The also put a solid crust on both sides which is extremely rare for this style of preparation (NY/German style). Not even Peter Luger does that.
Thankfully, they only seasoned it with salt. No pepper. Did I need to add more salt? Yeah. But still solid seasoning. At least it wasn’t like Bobby Vans where the chefs thought they we’re cooking for 92 year olds. (Low sodium joke)
Another major positive was the flavor in terms of age. They advertised a 21 day dry age, but the flavors developed in their aging process tasted even more profound than some steakhouses that advertise a 28-33 day aging process. Under promise. Over deliver.
I went 7.6 on the porterhouse. At first I thought I might have been too generous, but that though immediately switched to thinking I was too harsh. So I’d say 7.6 is fair.
Really good score. For reference, I gave Bobby Vans a 7.5 and would take Lenny’s every damn time over Bobby Vans. Every time.
So 7.6, Lenny’s Steakhouse, that’s your review.
