Alrighttttt randi… its #HighSteaksReview time at New York Prime @NewYorkPrime (Boca Raton, FL) With OG Camera Man @jakeglacer
Two steaks, everyone knows the rules. Attempting to write this review with a sliced pointer finger. This was like day 5 on my Thanksgiving marathon. I hit Luger, Mastros, and Cote in the days before this.
The only time Ive had New York Prime was in Atlanta when I uber eats’d it. That was on my trip to visit Emory which I got rejected from.
A few people (including Jake G.) were telling me I had to try it, so I made sure to go the next time I was in Boca.
I got the Porterhouse, Rare, As per usual. New York Prime charges $120 for what they claim to be a 40 oz steak. Id say this is about on par with industry standard.
I gotta say I was skeptical ordering it rare here because for whatever reason I felt like it would be like the Chophouse Nola where they give you a really thick cut steak, and barely reach blue in the center. Then I gotta sit there and pretend to like it.
But to my surprise they cooked it perfectly. So good that I even showed the steak to the camera which I never do (Too many heads chirping that its undercooked I dont wanna deal with). It was edge to edge rare on both the strip and filet. Remarkable.
Yo my finger just started THROBBING…. PLAY THROUGH.
The biggest difference between NY Prime and Abe & Louie’s is that NYP dry ages their steaks for 28 days. This was a noticeable difference. Though 28 days is minimal, it still helps to impart some levels of flavor in to the steak.
Their porterhouse was definitely under seasoned, but at least it didnt have pepper. Just could have used a lot more salt. A lot more.
The overall flavor was pretty solid but nothing that I hadn’t tasted before. Again, I gotta start being a little stricter with these reviews because lately Ive been letting the scores get away from me.
But regardless, this is a really big score. I went 7.2 on the porterhouse, making this the best steakhouse in Boca (as of now). I still have to post CUT432 review, and try a few more in the area.
But for now, 7.2, New York Prime, Boca Raton, New Button Downs, Macys Warehouse Sale, Finger still bleeding, thats your review.
