Alaska means colder temperatures for planting vegetables, so we put up a high tunnel to grow our tomatoes and peppers. We start from scratch, having to clear the spot of debris, building our high tunnel, and planting our vegetables. We can't wait to see how they do and what their yield is.

I'm sure. You know to keep up with weeds they suck about 90% of the nutrients out of the soil and smother your plants.... Garden is a requires serious upkeep... But I know you all will do great with the rich soil you all have... God Bless

Hello again. looking great with the green house. When you take off some of them leafs from the plants just put them in to the ground under the plants. they will brake down for the plants as food for them. That is what I use to do. & with the Tomato plants if you can dig the holes deeper & put them in the more stem that you can plant in the hole the better they will grow more roots & you will have much stronger tomato plants doing that. I had much more tomatoes to by planting them like that. Good luck.

Add some Epsom Salts to the soil around your tomatoes and other acid loving plants. The magnesium sulfate will promote healthy root growth. Jerry Baker published a book titled “ The Impatient Gardener” and included a variety of recipes. One of my favorite was Grandma Putt’s plant tonic. Some parts are strange but the foundation science is fairly good. Wishing you and your family a blessed week. Peace

You have done such great work preparing the site for garden you should look up the jadam organic fertilizer systems and use them for you garden , I've been using a similar liquid organic fertilizer which was handed down to me by my father and from his father before that for production of high quality vegetables and fruit of all kinds and flowers and Shrubs resulting in many awards for Allotment grown produce , give it a try it costs nothing because you can get containers for free, keep up with the great work ps give your dog a big hug from me because he is the management of the whole team really 👍👍👍

@@northtoalaska2022 If you have some where in your green house to put in some compost it will create the heat needed for the nights (kill two birds with one stone) I hope this holds up for the winter's snowfall...
@northtoalaska2022
@northtoalaska2022 Жыл бұрын
@conniewright8080 that's a fantastic idea! We will have to try that out. We did just start a big compost , so once that starts breaking down some, we will have to transfer a bit over to the greenhouse. This would certainly be good for the beginning of the season or end of the season when those nights get chilly! We will be removing the plastic for winter so it doesn't rip under the snow, but it is certainly a fantastic idea for the growing season. We definitely need to expand next season with a second greenhouse as we are out of room in our current on, but we will be trying this for sure. We appreciate the tip!

I did plant marigolds in the greenhouse, and on nice days, we leave the windows open, so there's a nice breeze that comes through. Occasionally, we open the door. Unfortunately, with as much rain and as cold of a summer it has been so far, we can't open the door much to let bees in because the Temps drop too much for the tomatoes and peppers.

Good job it's treated landscaping tiles that you're using for your raised beds in your greenhouse because the first greenhouse I ever built was out of logs yellow cedar logs which yellow seeded last a long time the biggest mistake I did was I never appealed the bark off them I just didn't think it was necessary built the one bed on each side and then did the end bed across so it's like AU shaped in the greenhouse and then the whole rest of the greenhouse the roof and stuff was all built out of logs everything was built at a logs except for the door was just built that up wood but I tell ya I had nothing but troubles with woodbugs eating everything all my vegetables strawberries I tried one year they ate all the strawberries they just ate most of the plants it was a real pain in the **** so mostly all my raised beds now are built at a tin

well I made a garden bed out of free wood pallet with a small hoop house on top that takes off and on and they are great and because you have new garden beds you should get some bloodmeal pellets for long-term feeding of your plants and also some volcano ash compost to give your plant the best start and then feed a liquid fish blood meal that you mix with water and you can feed your plant as you water but I only do that 1 time a month

The humidity makes sense actually... for the same reason that you're ice water on a warm day gets condensation. Its warmer inside the greenhouse, so water condenses to the colder surface.
@northtoalaska2022

Absolutely! We were shocked at how humid it actually was inside since our outside humidity levels were so low. But it will certainly be helpful for those plants that like that warmer, more humid environment. 😀

Hey guys like the video next year Boston cucumbers if you grow them right you'll have five to six cucumbers a day enough to do a jar day wonderful pickles. The recipe is this take yourself a hydrometer from Amazon and you want to make a brine 22% salt that's the best brine I use pickling spice without hot peppers and then a handful of garlic and fresh dill why you should do sliced pickles not completely in half about 75% in half so they can get a better fermentation if you don't do that they take longer but I use a wide mouth pickles are and I usually get about five pickles in there tightly and if you do that it takes about a month a month and about a weekto get them half sour. Now on the pickles for the Boston cucumbers I please start mine in the house but I usually do about six of them and they will climb literally 8 ft tall Susan trick is to get him to come climbing area so they will climb straight up and you know we're in an area that you can basically can get the pickles off easily you don't want him more than about 6" in maybe eight" at the most what sixes usually the best. You will find this cucumber plant will grown all spring and summer and then the second that there's a senses that it's getting cool it dies quickly

Hi there 👋! We primarily carry due to the wildlife. We often (almost daily) have moose come through and they can be aggressive. For 8 to 9 months we have bears that stroll through. When we are out working on projects, it would be easy for one of those animals to sneak out of the woods. We have been surprised several times by moose! So we have it just in case 😊
