I found that my mother always crossed my boundaries so I would ask myself “am I allowed to have boundaries?” like, asking permission before I do anything.

With social anxiety in the same time I am okay with everything and I am not okay with anything. There is blur, overlapping thus confusion and there is no clarity about what is boundary. I know this is due to Complex Trauma, wrong messages during growing up and being in toxic ambient of toxic shame. There is red alarm light all the time and there is normalization and rationalization about anything including abuse - as if I am oversensitive so I am fine with anything. Then this ends up with people pleasing since I depend on other people to explain what is ok. I see that I need to take risk and be wrong and learn from my mistakes in order to get to healthy medium. This means that I rely on natural over reaction and learn how to accept anything that realistically is not dangerous as it seems. I believe with abuse bullying mobbing experiences we have much higher ability to detect BS and fake people - and being fake is more less standard. I dislike auditing and writing method technique - auditing anything since this leads to Micromanaging - then there is only more of anxiety and hypervigilance. When the other person is toxic - we cannot heal that person. This is because toxic people use manipulation, coercive control, they are pathological liars. Any involvement with such people leads to gaslighting. self blame, self hatred, put downs, abuse.

Life has a funny way of teaching you the same lessons over and over, even though you think you understood it. For me, that lesson is boundaries. Every part of my life is infinitely better, but when I slip up and relax my boundaries, that's when some crazy shit goes down. Appreciate the content as always.

Telling a long-winded person saying hey I only have 30 minutes is a good idea. I usually just cut them off and they usually get the point that I ain't gonna hang on the phone all day, but that's probably a little passive I need to work on that

Apply the NO boundary to yourself as well! Say NO to continuing the same behavior. So NO to the excuses my body hurts, I feel like shit, I'll start tomorrow. You're never gonna "feel good enough" to start changing your behavior. And your reasons are absolutely valid and if you choose to never to change I wouldn't blame you. It is really hard to find the will.. some resistance may be so strong that you literally feel nauseous. But if you don't push through this your new start will never come and you'll keep getting sicker and sicker, creating more regrets until the day you die. YOU NEED TO DO THIS, FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR LIFE, YOUR FATE. FULFILLING YOUR DESTINY. YOU CAN! THIS IS YOUR SIGN TO START RIGHT NOW AND NEVER LOOK BACK. I LOVE YOU.

Time boundaries, time for me, my hobbies, my work, my partner, my friend, my family, …material boundaries, how much am I willing to lend? Stuff to others? Physical boundaries, how much touch from a stranger is or is not okay? Man… This is so much stuff I never realised I neglected… Toxic boundary - loose and floppy… or too firm and ridged… Healthy boundary - not too loose not too firm… you know what you and need, and how to say no… if you don’t tell people the boundary people can’t be given the choice to honour it… I feel worried about setting up boundaries with loved ones because I haven’t done it for so many years… I love them and am scared of rocking these foundational relationships in any way as we had a shared trauma… I’m scared but I’m going to work towards taking your advice… This was hard to hear, I don’t know how else to be… It also makes me happy to make other people feel good… Like I helped the planet be a little less shit for someone… But I guess that is selfish…

I thank you so much Julien! I am am INTJ and I love your coaching style. Multiple times I thought that you also may be an INTJ/ENTJ, because of that Ni/Te preference of xNTJ's, which makes them incredibly good at questioning/stragegizing/ finding a way to understand reality and patterns of thoughts, habits and life in general; and then sharing this with the world, to help others improve. I have never had any role model, but you are a person i really look up to. Not because of the things you have accomplished/do, but because of the way you ARE. I WATCH ALL OF YOUR NEW VIDEOS, EVEN IF THEY WERE 3 HOURS LONG, because your content is so deep and helpful! So thankful that I found you; best wishes from Germany !

From my experience boundaries have been a complicated subject. I've had trauma and injuries during my childhood that make relying on anger or fear as a signal challenging, so I had to work on that before I did anything else. Glad I did tho.

Great video! I thought boundaries were about you and not other people though? For example, if someone is bullying you, you tell them that is not okay and you're not going to stay here and be disrespected, so you're going to leave and you do. Another example is always late that you hire to do work for you. You let them know that you like working with people that are on time and going to be looking for someone else to hire that can be on time. This wouldn't wouldn't be trying to control the other person by making them change their behavior. Thoughts?
