Canada didn’t deserve it. Fuck the Canadians. Refereeing sucked through the whole match. Your team doesn’t know how to play cleanly, and is always picking fights. If they win this year, it’s so undeserved. Fuck Canada.

Honestly, I thought it was just a fluke against Sweden, but after 10 minutes I was rooting for Latvia. You deserve the bronze and so do the Latvian fans because you guys are fantastic! Greetings from the Czech Republic 🙂

Se Švédskem to byla fakt jízda. Ještě teď mi to zvoní v uších. Neskutečná obětavost, síla a fanoušci skvělí. škoda, že s Kanadou to nevyšlo. Doufám, že uhrajou bronz. A Německo je ve finále. Škoda, že finále není Německo - Lotyško. Konečně bude mít medaili i jiná země, než ti co to vyhrávají dokola a dokola. / Nic ve zlým, ale jsem ráda, že se situace mění./

@@kanga-ross Germany never won a gold medal. Heck, Germany's hockey this tournament was 100x times better than Latvia's hockey. They only got into the playoffs because of the Swiss not needing to win the last match (which the Latvians won only in overtime, EVEN WITH HOME ADVANTAGE!). If somebody deserves the spotlight, it is not the mediocre team from lucky Latvia, but the German team that deserved every single victory it got. (Unlike Latvia.)

I a'int gonna lie. As a Canadian fan there was a tiny part of me hoping that Latvia would win. Nevertheless, I'll certainly be rooting for Latvia in the Bronze Medal Game. When everything is said and done this is Latvia's best showing ever. Go Canada and Latvia.

As a Canadian I'm not a huge fan of this tournament as there's so much Canadian talent whom either doesn't play or is still playing in the NHL playoffs. Aside from that, I was very impressed with how Latvia played and really didnt think Canada was going to win.

I had to run to do some business after 1st round. I met with a total stranger to do business with and heard him happily telling how Latvia was leading after two rounds. After that I had to call home and ask what the score is every five minutes while driving home. Sadly Latvia didn't make it in the end, but what a team! Best wishes from 🇫🇮

Canadians are known to be polite, but man, when they are losing in hockey they act like spoiled toddlers. For that chuckle alone during first two periods our boys made me happy! I'm proud of them every year, but this year has been wild!

Proud of Latvia, Latvian Goalie Arturs Siloves a giant tall Goalie, played amazing and Rudolfs Balcers what a bright future for Latvia Hockey. Rudolfs 2 goal and 7 assist in 9 games is a great achievement. He is not a large player but moves like lightning. He reminds me of Sergei Zholtok R.I.P

A Canadian here that was cheering for Latvia in this game. Canada is in it every year- I’ve seen them win gold a bunch of times across different tournaments and I’ll see them win gold many more times in my life. Latvia has been a special team all tournament long. Would have been incredible to see them capture gold or silver. Fingers crossed for bronze!

Well we are proud anyways having beaten Sweden (one of the top gold medal contenders) and having had such an amazingly close game with Canada (probably the gold medal winners this year) now we aim for bronze and come back stronger next time (hopefully). We made history making it to the semi-finals, let alone being so very close to outperforming Canada.

@@triplexgg Indeed, Latvia should be very proud, Latvia got wins over Kazakhstan, Slovenia, and big upset wins over Czechia, Switzerland and even Sweden. At the beginning of the tournament Latvia lost 6 - 0 to Canada and by the end of the tournament almost got the win over Canada. Well done Latvia.

Haven't watched ice hockey for a few years and was surprised to see that Latvia was in B group after being in the A group forever. Really pleasantly surprised to see how strong they are though. Beating Czech Republic, Slovakia, Sweden and almost Canada (let's be honest 2 of CA goals were really just luck) is a massive achievement. We've always been strong and looks like this team can be great in the years to come with the right management. Shame to see a rather obvious favoritism towards Canadian players but I guess that's nothing new. So much aggression and so much dirty play from them in the first two periods going unpunished ruined the whole enjoyment of the game for me.

WOW... salty much?! Also, not luck. As you said you have not watch hockey for years so you are most likely unaware that trying to shoot pucks in off the goalie's head has been going on for a while now. That was an aimed shot. The reason is 99% of goalies are on their knees, which leaves that top corner of the net open, and banking a shot of the head is an easy way to get a goal.

I would not count that goal hitting goalie’s head beacause normally you stop the game after puck hits goalie head, so to do it with intention should not be allowed……..canadians showed today that they can do grinchy things, so they could not handle Latvians in fair game……what a shame, and these were mighty canadians playing like a soccer players😢

@@tiffaraffi7749 Again, you must not watch hockey. Watch a season of NHL, AHL, CHL hockey and you will see hundreds of goals from puck shot of goalie's heads. He aimed on purpose and it went in. Not lucky. As for the empty net... I bet you could not make that shot. In fact I doubt you could score any goals. Also, by your logic all goals, including Latvia's are lucky. SMH So chill yourself and calm your own tits as mine are just fine.

Yeah, i guess if you intentional put yourself in position to be hit bad and are willing to take the bullet, then its allowed to act and earn powerplay for your team. That mofo from Canadas team getting hit 2 times in same positions and style fully knowing someone is behind him and is going to collide and yet playing as unsafe as possible .... it was calculated and im sure he was prepared to take a hit knowing refs were on heir side.

On the third period if you watched and payed attention to the game, both teams experienced the same situation where a player got pushed down and got 2+ minutes. Latvia got the 2 minutes while Canada didn't got. Not to mention, agressevly pushed Latvian player to the ground and the referee 'Didn't saw" Also it's unusual that a player gets 2 minutes 3 minutes before the game ends. Bro, that's bullshit.

Yeah, especially 2 occasions were they gave Latvias player 2 min (with Canadians) for acting when in less offencive situation they gave only penalty to Latvias players. Not to mention situation were Latvias goalkeeper lost his stick and Canadians kept pushing Latvias players in back and refs were silent ... even commentators were surprised.

i've watched many world cups and have to say this year latvias performance is spectacular. alot of credit goes to goalie making miracle saves. of course helmet goal was alot of luck but it was intentional shot by the player with hopes of good rebound. canada does seem bit shaky this year but still getting it done, but personally i think if they get against usa in finals they will lose, will see. good luck to both teams in final games.

So in what way was this the referees "aiding" us?! We outshot you 36 to 22 which had nothing to do with the refs. It was just a good, nasty, hard fought, playoff game on both sides... some good old fashion hockey. As for the referees... they suck no matter what league or team you watch. Don't be one of those fans that blames refs, again it is not a good look.

You can watch highlights of any hockey game in any league, and the comment section is filled with people who think that the refs are one sided and helped the team that won. Now, there are sometimes that the reffing is one sided. With one team getting way more penalties than the other, but that is the minority of times. There is always some missed calls on both sides, but people only remember the ones against their team.
