He certainly has that cross kick down pat. Yeah, Sexton has been around for years and it's time for new blood. Same with Connor Murray.

If you look closely, you can see his hands go to ground before he latches on. That's why the ref tells him no.

He goes too long and misses it on the first time, he’s unlucky but the ref got it right

@@Dreyno Bad tactics. It's always bad to just kick away possession. Any kick done should be done with regaining possession as an end, not a hope, and not just to relieve pressure when beyond the 22, unless it's for clearance under pressure. And I have yet to see the halfway/22 law really being taken advantage of. Bet it disappears. I'm still miffed that the defense is only rewarded with a goal line drop out when the ball is trapped over the goal line, instead of a 22, which would really make teams on the offense think twice about utilizing pick and go over and over and over and over again with hefty brute force near the goal line, ad naseum.

@@CompuWhizz I thought that was unlucky. But he also missed two clear failures by Connacht players to roll away in the phases building up to that point. It works both ways. There’s an argument to say he misses the ball first and gets his hands on at the second attempt, which is maybe why the referee didn’t reward it. Refs just don’t seem to want to give pens in the last 10. The officials can’t be blamed for that defeat.
