As a Slovak I'm happy Latvia got 2 points from this game. Not because they palyed against Czechia. I want us Slovakia, Czechia and Latvia to qualify to the playoffs. I hope Swiss finishes 5th in the group - no hard feelings Switzerland but come on latvia are always an underdog and deserve to have a playoff when at home.

Major congratulations to the Latvian men's hockey team. Beating a team like Czechia, a team with many legitimate current and former NHL players, shows that the nation of Latvia is getting closer to becoming a fixture in international hockey. And it all started with their junior team, which has been in the top junior division for two consecutive years (and avoided relegation this year so they'll make it 3 in a row in December), and also their U18 team, which has been in the top division since the 2019 tournament (though there's a cancelled year and 2 non-relegation years in there, so they benefited from that, and also the expulsion of Russia and Belarus from the IIHF international play), and will be again in 2024, making the quarterfinals just last month in the 2023 tournament. It goes to show you that ground-up development is a long process, but it pays dividends.

I am so happy for Latvia. Im a big fans of the Czechs as well and a fan of international hockey as a whole, but just very happy for the co hosts to win at home in such a historic fashion. Always sucks to be the losing end of a historic moment, but the reason its so historic is because the Czechs are so good year on year so nothing to feel shame over on that side either. Again huge congrats to Latvia and hopefully the hockey there only continues to grow so the game can expand out of the "big six". Germany and Switzerland already pushing for spots as well as Slovakia for years and years, so the big six is already a little outdated, and hoping eventually countries like Latvia make the group much larger.

Referees were slightly on Czechia's side but overly both teams showed similar performance. If Latvia didn't get those 3 points in regular time, they got 2 in Overtime. Great job Latvia and Czechia for your power on ice.

Man, what a day, funnily, i told to my Canadian friend, that "that day might not come anytime soon" after 2 first games we had....but lo' and behold, i was proven wrong and i finally witnessed my homeland beating one team we never ever beaten since being promoted to Elites in 1997. I still try to wipe my tears of joy of witnessing this. Malači, veči. Jums tas izdevās godam.
