The MLS All-Stars welcomed a European foe for the first time since facing Spain’s Atlético Madrid in 2019. The format change ended their two-year winning streak, though, after beating Liga MX’s best in back-to-back fashion from 2021-22. While the result wasn’t favorable, the annual summertime showcase had a celebratory mood after a week full of moments like visiting the White House and training at the National Mall.

No idea why MLS fans are in a panic after this game, we toyed with Chelsea last year in preseason 3-0 with a weaker squad. Mikel takes these friendly games very serious to get the team up to speed. What did you guys think this is going to be, an NBA all stars game where everyone is just walking around with zero effort? Raise the standards, improve the league, take more risks even in friendlies, have the coach train All-Stars players for longer. Last time we (Arsenal) were in the Champions league we got humiliated 5-1 twice by Bayern, so we rebuilt the team and we still wanted to compete with the top. Losers give up and find weak opposition, winners learn their lesson and go again.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. A lot of people were shitting on the MLS team for not putting up much of a fight but every player in the Arsenal starting 11 had already played in Arsenal's system and with each other for the most part. Of course it wasn't much a battle when you compare that to a team of guys who've never played together for an extended period of time.

If it was MLS east against west that'd probably make more sense but no one would take it seriously given how easy it is to get injured in football and the fact that it's mid season for them. Preseason (for Europe) games make the most sense but then they just get dicked by five star European teams. Kind of a no-win situation.

@@tbd407 Those two joined a club that had been established since the late 1800s. The MLS All Star is put together in a week with two days to train. Come on now, use your head. There's no excuse here, it's just plain and simple. One is well established with tactics built from the academy and up and one is put together in a matter of weeks. This All Star thing is pointless to be honest but the US makes money from it and that's the end goal.

This game proved to me that MLS defenders need to improve on marking the wingers! When players with the calibre of Saka and Martinelli get the ball from midfield and have free space to run, you know immediately that danger is on the way! They did a lot of damage to the opposing teams at the Prem last season, and I do not expect them to stop!

Either get rid of it or do an east vs. west or bring back MLS vs. Liga MX like last year. But to go up against a club like Arsenal, it's no longer good for MLS. People around the world don't understand that these group of players were put together within a week with one day of practice. All they see is MLS losing to Arsenal.

I hear some people saying that this might damage the reputation of the MLS. I see it as, this is a group of players, most of which who've never played together, and are coming up against the runners up to City, who almost took them to the wire last season. Furthermore, "Get a regular season game. MLS against a team from Europe. Doesn't matter who." Unless you are completely unaware of how leagues work, it would be completely impossible to have a "regular season game" between an MLS side and a European side. They are in completely different leagues, in completely different confederations, on completely different CONTINENTS. So I guess not only is English not your strongest subject but also geography as well? Now, an "ALL-Star Game of players from different teams with less than a week together and not actual cohesion as a team really stands no chance against any professional team, let alone of the best teams in Europe last season. That also has ZERO barring on the league in any way shape or form. Winning this game proves nothing. Losing this game proves nothing. This game proves nothing what so ever. It is a corporate show put on for money, nothing more.

@@AFC-NzLxzT Neither? Chelsea just won the Champions League when they played Charlotte FC. I wasn't talking about his past season. I meant to say their last off season visit to the US. Obviously Arsenal is the better team. They have been playing together. They train together day in and day out. They have the tactics all the way down from the academies. They are a well oiled machine. Then you have the MLS All Stars. Put together in a week and had one day of training together. No tactics, no chemistry and on top of that, MLS is mid season. Nobody wants to get injured. This All Star game means absolutely nothing. Not even a measure of MLS. It's for entertainment and nothing more.

This all star team was so incomplete, had we had all the stars we would have won. These: Insigne, Messi, Bernardeschi, up front, Vela and Shaqiri as subs, Driussi, Puig and Busquets in midfield, illie Sanchez, Cifuentes as subs, Jesus Murillo, Chiellini as central defenders, Zimmerman as sub, Kai Wagner left back, Deandre Yedlin right back, Palacios, Palencia as subs. Joe Willis as GoalKeeper, Stefan Frei as sub. Arsenal had their entire squad and if we had these players out on the field Arsenal would have gotten DESTROYED.

This whole thing handicaps the MLS all-stars so much. These are a group of people who have never played with each other before (more usually being opponents actually), then you realize that the game is in the middle of the MLS season while the premier league has this time off. So the MLS players are more focused on getting back to their respective teams to win a cup. There more but I'll leave it here.

I get for viewership how this makes sense but you have MLS team that only has a couple days to get on the same page and you have basically all offensive players and a handful of defensive players playing some times out of position vs good teams and you get this because theh have players who are young and quality in pre season form but a team non the less. Like MLS needs to sprinkle more vs liga MX just for the competitiveness of the game itself. Just my opinion

@@tbd407 First of all, I'm not an American, I'm an immigrant of this country. Second, Arsenal is my club you goof. Third, I mentioned Everton losing to Minnesota because everyone is saying this All Star game is a measurement of MLS. It is not. MLS clubs do better on their own and I used the friendly results of Everton vs. Minnesota to prove a point. I give credit where credit is due in football.

@@mrfilamfishing okay so why doesn't Salt Lake or Seattle or L.A. Galaxy play Arsenal? They would probably get beaten but not as bad, i kind of agree with you. but MLS made this mistake by having "All-Stars" go up against a single club it sets their league up to look bad. Have LA Galaxy play Brighton or something that would be a better match
