My local MOT place had an old 406 Estate as a courtesy car. It was great. But people would just keep on to it to do runs to the tip or pick up stuff from B&Q. It was really popular with people in all sorts of trades. But the garage owner got a bit tired of people just cluttering up his space with their vehicles and not bringing the courtesy car back. So he swapped it for a pink KA with purple flowers on.

@@michaeljohnson1006 Sneaking suspicion it was something to do with VW's beetle, was the primary colour yellow? I do remember something, the reason I say VW is the Mk 2 beetle (when it was launched) had a flower vase on the dash. Hope this helps 🤔

Have had three Corsa D's - all 1.4 petrol, looked after them, FSH, timing chains done at 60 and 120k ,washed and cleaned and driven sensibly - all of them exceeded 130k miles with no major issues at all. Nothing wrong with them at all and extremely reliable if looked after

@@paulspurrell8669 Yes. It looks like that whole section of the dashboard was out, maybe at the same time they were fiddling with the gear shift surround. The door rubber at the driver's A-post looked a bit skew whiff also.

Damn, the interior was an absolute war crime. Glad there's a decent outcome at the end there, you make a bit of profit and it goes to someone who will also make a profit. Keep up the vids, really making me tempted in starting up buying and selling cars as I've been working at a garage for over 5 years now and more than happy to buy and sell old knackers and turn them into decent motors that are reliable.

You need to carry a supply of the polythene seat covers that mechanics use but in your case to protect your clothing from the upholstery.

Note to previous owner : Use Tippex for future small touchups on a white car. Also handy for blotching out initially ill considered threats of violence to a former partner's solicitor.

It's not about the car, it's about the owner(s). I had a Corsa from 2012, 115,000 miles, nothing came off or broke from the plastic inside. This Corsa was obviously used and abused by who knows how many drivers, because it was obviously a rental car.

Possibly previous owner had some kind of unexpected or unfortunate event (prison, ill health or death, etc.) and someone else selling the car just wanted rid of it.

Definitely saw this on episode 157 of Police Interceptors! Amazing what a difference a wash makes. Genuinely struggle with people who drive around in a car in that state and why you wouldn't run it through a car wash and vac it out before selling is literally beyond me. You certainly see humanity in all its glory in your game Matt.

I love you and love the content you present. Your disposition of common sense in your approach for situations that you must sort out is commendable and says a lot about your business ethics and integrity. It makes me wish someone like you with a car lot was here in SF Bay Area, as someone who also buys cars, sells them as the novelty where’s off, it would give great peace of mind knowing the true effort the dealership business owner, someone like yourself makes to ensure the cars he offers are indeed pre conditioned properly and in good faith. The people fortunate enough to be in the area of Great Britain in which you serve , should be thankful you have such high standard of quality of his own person feet of cars in his home garage, are not at all unlike the fleet of cars he offers for sale in the dealership garage he owns and operates.

What a heap!... Like you i`m always amazed at the state some people trade their cars in, you did the right thing to get shut to a trader as even though it cleaned up quite well you just know its not been cared for and will likely be endless trouble, to sell it from your forecourt the clutch needs changing, a proper service doing, sort the paint, parcel shelf and refit most of the interior plastics properly!...Not worth the hassle..

Such a breeze to work on. Had one on the exact same plate. Very reliable. Only concern is the fuel filter on the cdti is like 50 quid as it's a metal cased one that sits in the engine bay.

To be honest I quite like these little Corsa diesels. In a previous job, we had two as pool cars for ferrying workers to and from depots. The ones we had were base models with the 1248cc FIAT diesel engine rated at 73bhp. I was impressed with how nippy it was. They were also zero road tax as well. We then ended up with a 1.6 diesel Zafira which was a heap of junk and I hated it.

My sister had one of these since new, and after being reliable for some years, all of the suddenly was hit with high repairs. Timing chain stretched, Oil pump replaced, and clogged EGR. Even having low millage it need to replace the turbo, besides an anormal oil consumption. Also terrible residual value, with huge depreciation. Next time she gonna go with Japanese. Once going Japanese, you never go back.

Definitely a fleet car, maybe even ex PCSO, there is a driver fob scanner behind the ignition, I’d assume the dash is falling to bits from when it was defleeted and all the kit was removed, would also explain why the door seal is a mess from police belts

Had one of these as a BT work van and I thought they were much tougher than my former Festa Van . Mine did about 115000 in 6 to 7 years and not many problems. It got really hammered loads of long drives and the mpg were very economical

Hi how's it going. Excellent video on the Corsa,I really enjoyed it. The Q and A video was in my opinion was your best video you have produced. I found it interesting from the point that you were talking about yourself. So, you work to hard, get bored after a while doing the same job, and you like a challenge. Also, you need a hobby to take your mind off work issues. Here goes with the suggestions! 1 fresh water fishing. Done properly, it's impossible to think of anything else but the process of catching fish. Number 2, singing. Yes singing. When you sing you produce endorphins in your brain, nature's antidepressants. A choir is a good choice. A very social activity. Rewarding and uplifting. That's it. Cheers from benidorm. Tony

Matt you missed the magnetic dock for a key tag near the ignition. From that, the colour, and the phone case armband in the glovebox I'm guessing this was a pool car for a security company. The kind that drives around checking on businesses at night.

Off topic, but you'll be pleased to hear that I bought a car today having done a Car Vertical check using your discount code! (thanks) A 2015 Hyundai ix35 2.0 CRDi Premium 4WD. Immaculate, loads of kit, quite a nice place to be for a 2015 Hyundai. I did this based on your suggestion that they are good cars ;-). The dealer even let me take the car home having not paid for all of it because their payment system was being a pain - I must have an honest face :-D

In November 2020 my wife picked up our new car, since I was out of the country. The price sticker was 620.000 Norwegian kroner. My wife, this sweet creature, forgot to bring her phone or laptop, so she could transfer the money. Well, the dealer knew me, and they let her drive away in the new car. She phoned me about the pickup, and with my most manly and authoritarian voice I told her to transfer the money. I know my wife, and know that she cold sit down, begin knitting, and forget all about straighting out the moneymatter.

We’ve got one of these in the family. My step-daughter owns it. I actually thought this was hers and that it had been stolen. First part of the reg is the same, identical spec and similarly filthy. The difference… we’ve been caring for ours. It’s close to 100k. Hasn’t been fault free but not too bad. She polishes up quite nicely. But has to park on the road 😂

I had a 2008 3 door SXi 6 speed from new and have to say it drove really well, very comfortable, quick enough for me and very economical. When it was 4 years old I bought a new car and passed it on to my daughter and she has only just traded it in, other than servicing it hadn’t cost us much at all. She also says she misses the grunt it had as well as the 6th gear. They do keep well if you look after them.
