Matt, thease videos ARE more exciting than you think. Especially when you review cars we've never seen stateside, like this Berlingo. My whole life (to my wife's displeasure), I have bought old, cheaper cars and enjoyed the process of fixing them up, selling them and moving on to the next. Actually, I'm able to get my fix by watching your videos. Well...not really, because the car buying bug is an illness for which there is no cure. But - watching you buy cars I'll never hope to own makes yours my favorite KZfaq channel. So keep them coming!

Another video that just draws you in. I'm sure this has been said many times, Matt, but you have the knack of making it feel you are just having a chat with me in the passenger seat, rather than your thousands of viewers. Quite the skill, and a very charismatic approach. My missus is a fan, too, and she finds cars interminably dull.Must be the boyish good looks and the razor sharp quiff... Keep up the good work.

Got the earlier model of this a 1,6 petrol 60k miles then. Bought 6 yrs ago for £2200 sliding doors for my elderly parents. Never had a thing go wrong except back box. Many more miles now. Totally fantastic versatile car. Borrowed by many and piss taken out by the same until they borrowed it. I was expecting electrical gremlins - none. Underneath no rust, smooth, economical, reliable comfy as heck and practical. So good I have kept it as a spare car for anyone in the family. £126 insurance and bad news of £336 road tax. Tyres £40 a piece. Had sofa, double bed 5 bikes etc etc. not desirable but very much do it all truck. Heard bad things about diesels if not maintained and auto boxes. . Mine 100% more than I can say for Vw and Audi. Mine not got single spec rust anywhere a2007. Car was bought with cambelt and water pump at 60k … due another soon. Very accessible and will do my own. Genuine workhouse and I am very much a fan. All those that borrow it change their minds. Still on original clutch too

A nice cheap upgrade on these is the steering wheel. You can get a nice leather one of the 206, C3 etc from the scrapyard for a few quid and it instantly lifts the interior. The one size fits all within PSA works in your advantage because the Berlingo and Partner leather steering wheels are usually sold for higher £ then the 206, C3 ones.

The three separate and easily removable seats in our Allure spec one are great for carrying single or pairs of bikes, add a tip away towbar rack a and you can make it clear 4 bikes and still open the tailgate!! Otherwise - the separate opening tailgate window is your friend! We have managed three bikes on the roof and 4 on the towbar!!

I have the Peugeot Partner previous version with the same 1.6HDi. Had it from new and it’s now on 420,000km. Fantastic car. While some of the trim is a little fragile, its van underpinnings are robust. It’s never needed any bushings, shocks, springs, joint boots or anything like that. Although it does live in the drier southern France and is always undercover. Blew the turbo at around 250k but it was worth the 1k spend to get that replaced. Great car for everything we throw at it. Not surprising if your newer version flies off the forecourt.

I had the van version 2013 with the later 8v engine with crew cab (no cam chain issues). Was the best vehicle i’ve ever owned. Absolutely bulletproof, it did 230k before I sold it, it’s still on the road and I have requested first refusal on it because I loved it so much. A few tips, the seats are a sponge for dust, the steering wheel can be replaced with one off a 307/207 GT which is leather trimmed (the airbag with the Citroen badge remains so it looks OEM). If you fit slightly oversized tyres on the front 205/60/R15 (off the top of my head) you get slightly better fuel economy at 65-70mph. Also with the aggressive the suspension rake it has on the high weight van models (850kg payload) it also levels out the ride height front to rear and looks better and drives better imo. Avoid the robotised manual, they’re expensive when (not if, when) they go wrong and even changing things like the clutch/fork is more expensive. Rear discs have bearings in them so they’re expensive. The other issue is on the white vans they look like they’ve been whitewashed by a teenager from texas. It just falls off. The engines are also tuneable, especially the older 16v. I had mine running it almost 190bhp and it flew! When it wasn’t towing a 1t trailer😂. Replaced it with a Land Cruiser and would have the Berlingo back for day to day driving for sure. It even handled well with Michelin PS4s on it!

Used car prices in my country seems to be getting even more insane than the UK. Second hand Berlingo 2009 in average condition with 200k km is close to 4000 Pounds (converted from the local currency). Hell, 2 to 3 years old cars with 50 or 60k km are sold for the price of brand new one.

I referred to mine as 'lifestyle vehicles', which suggests that my lifestyle is akin to Claude Greengrass, which might not be too far off the truth. They're roomy, have a good driving position, cheap to run, elicit no envy, and are unlikely to ever get stolen. Definitely not magnifique, but very much tres bon.

The 1.6BlueHDI from Citroen is bullet-proof. We had it in a 2019 Berlingo. We ran it for 110,000 miles in only 3 years - we abused it and it never let us down once. We actually drove it for 10,000 miles with oil so low the dipstick would come out completely dry - yet it never broke down. We've got a new van with the new 1.5BlueHDI now - it's based on the old 1.6. Lets hope its just as good. Will definitely be looking after this new one.

We had a van version for 2-3 years. We came from a Volvo XC70 and moved on to a V70. The Berlingo didn't stand out as lacking in cargo space. Maybe they don't have it in the Multispace version but you didn't mention the cavernous centre console (which we called the oubliette) and which was much bigger than either Vovlo's offering. Good low sill for aged dogs.

Hi Matt, hope you're keeping well. Always liked these cars/vans as they're really practical. Would suit me and my powered wheelchair and the dog and the shopping and anything else you could throw in. I like the look of the Toyota Proace, a modern version of the Berlingo. I'm curious - If I go onto the gov website and want to look at the MOT details of my own car, I need to provide the V5 doc number. Yet Carvertical doesn't seem to need this. Hmmmmm. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe ad keep up the good work.

Love the channel, wait for the uploads most evenings. Particular interest in cars between 5k to 15k. Audis, BMWs, mercs and cheap little run abouts.

Iv driven the van version and for a van they do drive really well. The car version is hard to get hold of as lots in south west are converted to mobility spec, also driven by lots of elderly people. But you can see why, its easy to get in and out of, sliding rear doors, no nonsense layout and controls and a huge boot that'll swallow wheel chairs, mobility scooters and shopping. People seem to want them and those who have them tend to keep hold of them.

We recently purchased a Peugeot Partner Tepee. Love it! So practical. Bought from a local dealer Southern England. Paid £3,900 but worth it. 2008. Came with a warranty. Great for taking out grandkids and elderly parents too.

Quite like the colour on that, especially the matching interior blue. Reminds me of the latest gen VW New Beetle.

my mate has one which he bought brand new in 2015 - 1.6 petrol...….all he has spent on it was a yearly service........still on original brake pads, etc. Its been used for everything and still looks good - no stone chips, rust blisters, etc. He never washes his car so its never been washed in 8 yrs...therefore no car wash swirls or scratches - interiors like a skip....currently 90k on clock.....he said he's keeping it until it dies......normally he would change cars every year......his Citroen mechanic is amazed how good it looks LOL

Yeah I love the utility of these van cars but I’ll stick to my Ford Galaxy. Would love to see a video about the Galaxy actually. Im assuming you get them come through your garage. I just serviced my auto gearbox at 170,000km as I wasn’t sure was it ever done based on your advice of servicing auto boxes. Ford we’re the only ones I could get to touch it but happy it’s done. Only a 2016 with 184,000km on the clock so hoping it’ll run a number of years yet. Well serviced so fingers crossed!
