@@vincentsablan732 It actually does make sense. Our framers recognized the possibility of b.s. criminal cases being lodged against political opponents - so they couldn't run for office or otherwise attain high position. Thus, the framers didn't include that in eligibility requirements as per Article 1 or elsewhere. With that said, I think there is still some legislative leeway - and it seems to be tightening.

I'd say it's more of a sign of desperation than stupidity/gullibility. It's rough out here. I remember my desperate search for housing. Not in NYC, but Rhode Island/Connecticut. CT is a little better, but RI, the state I lived my whole life, and never had an issue finding affordable housing prior to Covid, it is nearly impossible to afford housing. I'm an exotic dancer, I have the financial means to live decently, solo! It's a dog fight for ANY place to live! As a 24 year old (at the time), single mother of a 2 1/2 year old autistic child, the second I walked into a showing, seeing a 40+ year old married couple, who could even make significantly less combined than me, it was like "Well, enjoy your apartment! Thanks for taking a $50 "application fee" from 100 people without expressing you basically knew none of us would get it first!". I searched for a year. I was homeless for 10 months. Living in a car, separated from my child at night, I am so so lucky to have not been desperate enough to fall for many scams. REAL APARTMENTS are SCAMS. Landlords in New England collect thousands from application fees. They don't even need to rent out the space, and they don't. They wait months for the "perfect" tenant, never intending to truly rent the property. Why do it, when you can have your place empty, and get triple what it's worth for months? Then double when you finally do rent it out! Truly awful state of the world. Rental programs with guaranteed rent still won't get you a place up here. Making 5× the rent won't get you a place. Funny thing is, when I did get a place, it was a 2 bedroom single family home on 1/2 an acre, for $1100 a month. I thought for sure I'd been scammed. Landlord stopped answering until days before move in. Took 1/2 the deposit, then a few days before basically said come get thr keys. It was sketcy, and thankfully it was a god sent blessing, but I was so desperate, someone said yes to a home that would change my life, I had to take the chance. I had no choice.

I find it hard to believe that Garth Rector’s death was as a result of a botched burglary. I would think a burglar would fire one shot and then get out of the house as fast as possible. With regard to the NYC apartment rental case. Come on people, $1100 a month for that apartment? I don't think you can rent an apartment like that anywhere for that amount. Hell, here in Hollywood, FL it costs $3,000 a month for a tiny 2 bed one bath apartment, 1000 square feet. And that is with no view of anything but the loud busy road 4 floors below your balcony. That NYC apartment would be $10,000 a month or more. People pay $5,000 a month in NYC for a studio that is so small that if you trip and fall walking in the front door your face hits the wall on the opposite side of the apartment. If it sounds to good too be true, it's not probably too good to be true, it most certainly is and it's a scam!

I could always put up a dollar amount as a reward because I know it will not be collected. Could be the perfect murder for an ex wife who no one would suspect, because they are all saying he was going to get back together. Nobody deserves to die under the hands of any individual human being --- or group. Never. But if you are married or wanting to be in a relationship with another --- it is never right to be with somebody who is also in another relationship. Nobody deserves to be killed but Garth's is a sleazy guy. Feel sorry for his family but you can't be sorry for a guy who wants to dip toes in all the waters and not expect to get burned when the water is boiling.
