Hi! This is a tough one as they need to verify your identity. I'd suggest just sending your real name and real ID, along with all of your press links which should have your name (and potentially your photo) in them anyway. Best of luck! - C

Hi! So you'd need 5 x major press links, so articles about yourself in major, globally-recognized publications. One digital newspaper wouldn't cut it, unfortunately. It doesn't hurt you to just apply and see how you go, you can apply once a month. Hope that helps - C

@@astolfo7869 Hi, so they want your ID to verify the human behind the profile, even if the username doesn't match the ID. And it won't change anything, the handle and name section don't change at all so you're all good.

@@Dracoh It's not about following, it's about your major press links. You'd need to submit press to prove notability, from publications along the lines of Time, Forbes, CNN, Rolling Stone etc. If you don't have any ID then I'm not sure that it'll work for you, unfortunately, that seems non-negotiable. - C

@@Dracoh Correct. Verification is about notability and it's an indication that this is the official account of this important individual or brand. So essentially you need to prove that what you do is significant enough to warrant verification. A good comparison is a Wikipedia page. If you or your brand is on Wiki, you'll likely qualify for IG verification. Hope that clears it up. - C

Hi, unfortunately not. I'm personally verified on Facebook but I constantly get declined on IG using the same links that got me verified on FB, and I've seen a lot of comments of others in the same boat. Not sure why that's the case, it doesn't make a lot of sense. - C

Regarding links, do sources such as IMDb, official websites, Rotten Tomatoes, Movie Reviews help? Should Actors list their notability account category under "Entertainment" or another category? Are Driver's Licenses and Passports the strongest Document Types? My middle name is on both, but my stage name is just my first and last name without my middle name. I've explained that before, and I want to ensure what I am saying or describing is strong. Finally, for the Audience (Optional) section, is it ok to say that it's friends and fans that follow my account? Thanks again for your help. I am truly grateful.

Hi Ramy, the only thing they typically care about is the press. If the 5 articles you have are extremely large (Forbes, CNN level), then you have a solid chance. It doesn't hurt to apply either way, if you get declined it doesn't stop you applying again in future. - C

Mine says this “Your account wasn’t verified because it’s fewer than 180 days old. You can submit another request in 30 days.” I haven’t gotten this one before I usually just get that I don’t meet criteria. So does this mean that I have finally met criteria and will be receiving verification badge when the 180 days is complete?

We have about 30 articles mentioning us and numerous celebrities and influencers wearing our product, but how to link them if 5 links is maximum when filling in IG verification form? Should we send google drive link or will it lead to us getting denied? Or should we choose 5 the most relevant ones? Thanks!

Hi Mariia, so you only need to submit 5, I'd suggest submitting the 5 biggest ones. They want to see globally-recognized publications (Forbes, CNN, Time etc) so avoid any small outlets and focus on the large ones. Good luck! - C

Congrats on the growth! IG are looking for articles in major publications about you, the followers wouldn't be enough to land the verification. Your best bet would be to work with a publicist to generate the links you need to submit. Best of luck! - C

Hi Rozem, that would most likely be because your press wasn't large enough. You need press pieces from 5 globally-recognized publications, and if you don't have those then you may need to work with a publicist to generate those. - C

Hi! So yes you need photo ID, a driver's license or passport would suffice. As long as you have 5 links to major, globally recognized press pieces about you in publications like Forbes, CNN, Time etc, then you should be good to go :) - C

Do you think it would be best to keep my old account and just rename that, or does the follower count not matter? Pleasure! Definitely keep the old account if you grew an organic following. If you rebrand and change your name, however, all your major press and Wikipedia pages may not be useful for verification. Just make sure all your press etc is in the same business name. Thanks for watching! - C

Hi, it could be the press pieces. They want to see 5 links with articles about you in globally-recognized publications (eg Forbes, Time, CNN etc). The followers and other verified profiles don't seem to count for as much, but I'd still suggest including the verified FB page link in the 5 links just in case it's helpful (put it last). - C

Hi, you're so welcome! We've never applied for ourselves, actually. In order to qualify to be verified, you need to be proven to be notable and have at least 5 links to major press (meaning globally recognized publications). We've never worked with publicists to do that for High Season, so we wouldn't qualify. Maybe down the track if we want to invest in a publicist we'll apply, but to be honest, verification isn't crucial to us right now. We did, however, get our notable client verified, and that was the basis for this video. Thanks for watching! - C

Since you're essentially trying to prove notability, if you submit new links every time then I can't see that being a problem. OK. Looks like it’s pretty much the same process as Facebook. However, we have been unable to get Facebook to verify our account. We have over 150,000 fans on our trademarked clothing brand. They used to only ask for articles of incorporation which we have always provided and they always said that they were unable to verify. We also provided a copy of our trademark that is on file with US PTO. I saw recently that they also asked for links and such so we provided those as well. We have found multiple pages on Facebook pretending to be us and using our profile photo. So it is imperative that we get a verified account with this number of fans that we have. Any idea what else we could do here? We have followed all of the steps and have a pretty substantial following on Facebook already. Not sure why they keep saying that they cannot verify our identity after providing the articles of incorporation and the trademark.

So just like Instagram, Facebook requires the brand to be notable and uses things like a Wikipedia page and multiple organic major press pieces for proof. If there's an open field where you can provide links to fake accounts pretending to be you, that could be helpful to get this across the line. - C
