My father went to high school with Eugene Orowitz (Michael Landon’s real name) in Collingswood, NJ. He changed his name when he made it in Hollywood. Funny thing is, my dad told us Eugene was a bit of a troublemaker in high school and wasn’t a serious student. These were shows whole families could watch and people could say they grew up with. They don't make shows like that anymore because everything is too dark and gritty and about demographics not about appealing to any and everyone.
