I love this moment - it almost reminds me of the great Federer/Nadal tennis rivalry. Bitter and trading blows, but they deeply respect each other. The manga/anime does a great job building to this moment in terms of storytelling.
Part of me really wants a followup chapter or two, 10 or 15 years later of just hikaru and akira, to see how their relationship as players has evolved!

Well if the author is pressured by the lgbtq they might be playing go in bed😒

Now I have to start playing go after years, again. Such a wonderful anime:)

I love anime, even after I hit 30, and I also like sports anime. The usual suspects were Slam dunk!, Prince of Tennis, or Hajime no Ippo. From newer ones, Haikyuu!, Kukoro no Basket or Free! Iwatobi swim club. Then there are new smaller ones like Gymnastics Samurai, Run with the wind (so good, for a slice of life sport anime) or Sk8, the infinity, but... However, I could never make my way into Hikaru no Go, or Yowamushi Pedal, or Eyeshield 21. It felt childish to me. Now I'm into watching them all and so far, Hikaru no go, even tho the first 40 episodes feel slower (still good), really makes me want to learn GO. That's how you know its good. Like when you wanted to fly like DBZ or channel ki/chi/chakra like Naruto haha. I know how to play chess, and enjoyed it a lot in the past. Now, maybe, Go is the next
"I didn't waste the last 2 years and 4 months, either" remember how he spent all those months without playing go when he went pro.

he spent them to find himself and go on without sai s presence around him... I think that was a good way to spend 4 months
@bobjones420694 жыл бұрын
@@aaddss9846 Most of the time was spent by him being depressed. He only spent like a day or two in search of Sai and then just went to school like usual until Isumi challenged him. It was more of a sudden realization than a journey of finding himself.
@aaddss98464 жыл бұрын
@@bobjones42069 u d be surprised how usefull that period of depression is to get over certain events... again it was something he needed, after that I doubt there will ever be something to distance him from go again... all that time doubting and hating himself made the realization at the end much more impactful
@bobjones420694 жыл бұрын
@@aaddss9846 Mentally yeah, but for Go, he didn't practice and was on hold for improvement for a long time.
One thing I’m bitter about is that Hikaru never did tell Akira about Sai’s identity.

the original intended ending was supposed to include this but the manga was forced to stop early due to a lawsuit with a korean pro's likeness

Well I mean, Hikaru did say that maybe someday he will tell Akira everything. But yea, wish I could see that happening too.

@@Ahloveyafuhso That's just bullshit reason to cover up the fact that the koreans hated this show because they feel disrespected by the show.
