This will always be one of the few shows I’ve enjoyed dubbed and subbed. Do they feel hella different? Sure. Do I love it anyway? 100 percent😭

If this became a remake in 2018 it will be better than miraculous

This brought back memories. I remember my old OC, Anna. She became Mew Black, her animals being both a black panther and an eagle. As Mew Black, she would show up when the girls were in trouble. She refused to join forces with them. Her outfit was a black bra top with a black skirt with black combat boots. Her weapons were her sais. her stomach was bare. She had the cat ears and tail plus the eagle wings. Her thing was collecting what she called life shards, and defeating monsters created from dark seeds. Zoey was hit with a dark seed and after a week in the hospital, it became clear she was dying. The girls searched for Mew Black, but are attacked by a monster. Mew Black turns up and defeats the monster. The girls plead with her to save Zoey, but she refuses, saying all wars have casualties before leaving. In a dark alley, she weeps. She knows she can’t save Zoey, but she can counter the dark seed with a life shard. As Zoey falls into a coma, Anna meets Renae and gives her a life shard, telling her she stole it from Mew Black, and to use it on Zoey. It will cancel out the effect of the dark seed. Renae does, and Zoey slowly recovers. Mew Black meets up with the girls and finally explains. She is reassembling the ancient Crystal of Life so that she can use it to destroy the dark Tree, Menace. This will put an end to the threat of the dark seeds. It also means Zoey will die. The shard in her will be the last one collected. Zoey accepts this much to the shock of the other girls, and asks Mew Black to take her place as leader when she is gone. Menace starts using dark plants to create more powerful monsters. Just as it seems hopeless, the partially assembled Crystal of Life shines, granting them new powers Mew Black calls life powers, and finally starts working with the girls. Zoey’s dark seed sprouts and she falls under Menaces control. The girls are forced to fight her. She creates monsters by corrupting any animal or plant nearby with dark plants. Mew Black considers removing the life shard in her. During a rough battle, the partially assembled Crystal of Life glows again. Zoey’s life shard lights up and she starts screaming in pain. Menace recalls her, and discovers the dark plant inside her is beginning to wilt, and the life shard is glowing faintly. Menace combines the two, creating a dark Crystal plant. This makes Zoey much stronger, and the Crystal of Life can no longer reach the shard inside her. The monsters she unleashes are far more powerful. The girls find themselves in trouble. Even Mew Black is struggling. Mew Black decides its time to speak to the World Tree. The World Tree understands their plight but can’t help. He decides to send them to the Garden of Eden where the Tree of Life once resided. In there they must seek out the Angel Eve who can help. That was as far as I got. I’m going to find the old fanfic one of these days.

As much as I hate 4Kids, their themes are catchy as fuck. I really like Mints theme and Zakuro. Why did you have to change their names 4Kids ;-;! Poor Lettuce XD I also used to say " Mew Mew Style, Mew Mew Grace, Mew Mew Power In Your Face! " in 2nd grade with my friend XD. I would pretend to be Mint, while I told my friends your Ichigo, Lettuce, Pudding, and Zakuro. I really like Mints transformation. I still think the Japanese Sub is better.

*Group transformations start* Me: *not expecting anything when suddenly* *song starts* Me: ITS NOT HOW WE DRESS OR WHAT WE POSSESS FROM THE VERY START IT WAS THERE IN OUR HEARTS This was my second anime that I watched like 4 or 5 years ago! All of these transformations and attacks are so nostalgic aaaaa. My past 11 or 12 year old self has been released.

Okay, now I'm irked at the English version for one thing: If they knew how to work in Bridget's transformation for the group ones, why didn't they include her solo one?

You know, watching this now (years after I first watched it), I just noticed in the second group transformation, Corina gets her gloves while wearing her dress, then later gets the dress without wearing her gloves. xD I think someone had an oops there.

I watched Tokyo Mew Mew first and always hated the 4kids version. But now that I'm watching some of the episodes, funnily enough, it holds my interest better. I just like it better for some reason :/ But Japanese is always the original.

XD... Kikki is a Saiyan!... Actually I really liked this show. There were some pretty stupid things about it, but actually I really liked it and was sad when they canned it without finishing the series... they seriously only had a few more episodes to dub. They should have just finished. Hopefully someday Viz or Funimation or something will put out an uncut dub b/c it's a good show.

I actually like the music in the 4kids version more than I do the japanese version, it was just so cheesy and lackluster.

I really love how you do your research, and it inspired me to watch the original again, and find every art mistake that I could, mostly them leaving out Ichigo's ribbon on her glove. I also bought the Kondansha versions because of you.

I only ever caught a few episodes of this (I have memory issues so could never remember to keep up with it) but it was my introduction to magical girls, and I remember watching zoey's transformation and thinking it was the most amazing thing I had ever seen

this is so crazy, i remember when renting dvd’s were still a thing and id get tokyo mew mew every time and make up my own character or just imitating everyone’s transformations etc

I think it's pretty clear what Bridget's transformation music would've sounded like if she had received a solo transformation... or maybe that's just me!

I loved this show so much, I had to finish the series in Japanese when they stopped dubbing them because 4Kids lost the rights to this show. It was worth it- I like Tokyo Mew Mew way better. They cut so much out of Mew Mew Power. It's not the same when you watch the original and then the dubbed version.

I do like that 4Kids shortened the transformation sequences simply because they took too long in the sub

I keep rewatching Corinna's and Renees part transformations, I feel so old!

I never quite understood why Bridget didn't get a transformation, probably the answer is below me somewhere but there are too many comments to read xD Also, I love the music that plays on the background while Zoey's is using the blue aqua *^* I have it somewhere in my computer. 5:36 they did so many things too try and de-cross Renee's weapon but they completely forgot - or just didn't do it - on the attack and now it just looks plain weird. In the second group transformation they "turn back in time" on Corina's and Bridget's transformation just to gain more time to allow the music - which I actually like - to end.

I must say that I like both TMM and MMP transformations and attacks equally (The emotional feeling from the music is awesome in TMM while MMP has catchier music) and as much as I like the anime in both original and dub, I loved the manga waaay more ^_^
